Funeral Flags

I've always liked the look of front fender mounted flags on cars. This is typically seen in funeral processions or on government/royalty cars. I think I saw Ronald Regan with flags on his limo when I was a kid and that kicked off the respect/adoration of flagged cars.

I bought some funeral flags with special flexible posts and magnetic bases from a funeral supply house. I liked them, and they seemed stable on the car, but the bases were too big for the fenders - they overlapped onto the hood too much. BTW, what is the hood made of? It's non-magnetic. I was also worried that the flags would be a target for theft, as they're easily removed from my car and easily attached to another. So, I built a pair of permanent mounts from some scrap metal I had. The mounts tie into a fender bolt under the hood. I dipped these in that liquid rubber stuff and then put the fuzzy half of velcro on the bottom (paint facing) side of the mounts.

I've been cruising with them for a week now and it's working out just fine. I've already located and ordered some 6" by 9" pirate flags... so phase 2 is just around the corner.

why would you get funeral flags and put them on your cars if your not going to be carrying around dead people? i think that is really weird. and even if it wasnt funeral flags i dont think that looks stylish at all IMO.

I wonder how long they will last before someone rips them off, plus the damage that will occur to your fender and paint. I would re-consider.

If you're putting funeral flags on your car to get right of way, shame on you.

Yes, I went to all this trouble to shave off a few seconds at a four way stop.

I did consider that this could lead to scratches on the fenders, but I finally decided that damage could happen to the car either way.

As with any mod, some will like it and some will hate it. I love the look and will post pics when the new flags arrive.
