Superlumination park lights

I put in two more superlumination red tower lights, into the park light slots this time..Whoa man! These are really bright. Is there such a thing as "illegal brightness" to rear lamps? I'm afraid these are at the threshold of illegality!

Best of all, I have cut down on the heat of the stock incadescent bulbs and probably consume far less juice in illuminating these... I have left the amber flashers and rear backup lights as stock since these are normally used only intermittently...

Please don't make your taillights ultra bright. It's fine to make the brake lights bright, but if you make your taillights bright all you are doing is blinding the poor guy behind you.

bright tailights

Yeah, I was afraid I was going to do just that- make the guy behind me "blind".. I might "dumb these down" - However, how bright is too bright?

As logn as they are a legal color, I don't think there is a legal limit to intensity (well not to lumens at least, however some lights are not DOT approved for on-road use and thus are technically illegal. These tend to be overwattage bulbs, or particular headlamp reflector patterns....it's not something you'll get pulled over for). I say turn on the lights in your car, then get in a car behind your car (not an SUV, you want to be at a typical car height) and see if it appears overly bright. It's a judgement call. I just remember driving behind a guy who had put the wrong bulbs in his taillights (looked like he put brake lights in his taillights, maybe even brighter) and I had to drop way back (like 5 times proper following distance) to be able to see.

I have driven behind a few cars with super bright tail lights. I just thought that they were riding there breaks the entire time. It was VERY annoying and potentially dangerous.

I think that these lights would be great for those with Dark tinted tails.
i think im gonna have to get them after i get my tinted tails done.

BTW Jaydee, do you happen to have a picture where one side has stock bulbs and the other side has the superillumination?
And also, did you get red bulbs or white bulbs for the taillights. Just wanted to know which one made your taillights so bright.

Hey I replaced both as soon as I did a visual comparison with one on the left and stock on the right. So no pics, but believe me, there's a BIG difference. I ordered the red ones...I think I got the "red" ones- the LEDS have a transparent, clear plastic encapsulation; I can only see them lit through the red plastic I haven't looked at them without the plastic- perhaps I will try that tonight..Im assuming I got the red ones, hmmm. 2Kings said something about getting the whites and their looking magenta-ish. Mine are blood red/ruby red-the way I like em
