Combination Amber and White LED Tower Bulbs

Pretty cool for the front turn signal bulbs.
Parking light is white, but when the turn signal is activated, it flashes yellow.

Perfectly legal, a lot of european cars use white for the parking light.

This will give that monochromatic look for those who want it.

I've ordered a set and will post pics next weekend after I pick them up.

Those look pretty cool. I picked up something similar on ebay for about 10 bucks. It was the regular turn signal bulb that has been chromed. So it gets rid of that orange tint inside the headlight but still will flash orange when turned on.

The difference is, the regular bulb will glow yellow when the headlights or parking lights are on. (I have a set like those now). The new LEDs will be white and only glow yellow when the turn signal is activated. they also are white when off.

Did you order the 1157 or the 3157 for your SRT-8? I'm going to order these. Just want to make sure I get the right units. Also do we need to add the load equalizers mentioned?

3157 for the LX's

yes you will need 2 6 ohm load resistors, one for EACH front lamp.

i thought about just changing the flasher but it turns out these cars do not have a flasher -- the blinking is software controlled. so you need the resistors.

wow -as i type this an e-mail arrived from Chris at autoillumination--he has one set he is shipping me and then is sold out! Will get more in 3-4 weeks, just wants everyone to know. His initial shipment was small to test the market.

So, if you wanted to do both front and back turning lamps, you'd get the 3 ohm equalizers, correct? How do you wire these up? The website says one on each side, covers front and rear, but where do you install them? In the front or the rear light assemblies?

Yes you just need the 3 ohm equalizers, one for left one for right. It does not matter if you put them on the front or rear lamp. I think the front is easier because the rad core support can be used to mount the equalizer (resistor) on and in that position heat will not be a problem.

Chris shipped the bulbs to my Buffalo drop address, but I'm in Toronto and was not able to get down there today.

Will have them by next weekend though and will do some pics. Video would be best but I don't have a video camera.

hemiwagon, I had to delete my post sorry!.. I posted up earlier that the 3157 switchback bulb was the same "bulb housing design" as the Light Towers I and II on
http://autolumination.com/. I recieved my Towers today, and had a hard time fitting them in the headlight housing! But after a long struggle with them (lot's of turns and twists of the wrist), it fitted tightly. Wired up the load eq's (which got freakn hot btw) and fired her up. The towers were supposed to be the brightess LED 3157 bulb out there, but it didn't seem like it.. Maybe you'll have luck with your switchbacks.. I'll post some pic's later on tomorrow night..
