Question Cheap Grille Mod

It may be cheap, but its rare.
I did pretty much the same except I cut my veritcal bars out and kept the chrome. I then added a mesh behind it.
Very nice though and saved yourself like $300

Looks nice. Certainly rare. So... you just painted flat black? What paint did you use? Did you remove the grill to apply the mod, or just tape in place and paint away (a little risky if you ask me with respect to overspray, etc.).

Also looks like you've replaced the OEM lower-vent back-plates with something else. Tell us about that.

I gotta be honest, I'm not really diggin it.. I think it needs some chrome left on it to go with the car... just my opinion of course maybe if the out border was left chrom.. I really like what NautcaSprt6 did with his and might have to bite that style one day for my black 300c


all in all I dont think it looks bad, just not my style

Thanks for the Compliments.
Thats why I left the chrome horizontal bars, I wanted it to mathc the rest of the chrome on the car.

Bought a touring grill an painted it, then installed (45 min.)
E & G double mesh inserts, painted black.

Thats why I bought a second grille, I was'nt sure if I'd like it or not.
I think your right about the outer border which is still there on my original.
I'm not a big fan of chrome but I do like a little.
Color matching is also an option on the table.
