T-Rex Mesh Grill

I talked to Mark over at T-Rex today about their new mesh grill. He said that they took lots of orders at SEMA and they should be shipping in a couple of weeks. The List Price on it is $552.00. I told him about the forum and was trying to get a group buy on this grill once I see it. I gave him the web site info and all. This grills finish is outstanding and the look is better than than the.E&G IMO. He said the mesh was heavier than the E&G. If this turns out to be a nice grill, lets try to get a group buy from them.

If you click on this link and OPEN, you can get a real good close-up look at the grill.

Jon from E&G Classics.

We were quite proud to have our mesh grilles featured on several cars at SEMA. K&N had the Magnum, Hot Wheels/Mattell had one and there were several more Magnums and 300C's on display. The one we liked best was in the Mopar display!

PS We are starting on the lower mesh sections for both the 300 and the c next week.

This is starting to get downright silly. Just because another company comes out with a smaller gauge wire based mesh they figure they can charge double the price? E&G has my needs covered, and if they wanted to provide a "Finer" mesh I'm sure they could produce one for a comparable price.

$552?

I paid $265 shipped and the mesh is nearly identical. These companies need to get real. E&G kudos to you for keeping your product pricing realistic and maintaining a relationship over the forums.

rogue,
WADR, there is a significant difference whenever you are dealing with the heavier mesh. I am in the process of building my own grill with lower inserts, and the cost of the material is crazy! Then when you start talking about having it chrome plated, or polished, and finishing the mesh out to keep it from tearing something up, or rusting.... $552 isn't that bad. (wadr=with all do respect)

I have only one complaint about the EG and that’s the fact that the solid trim around the outside is flat and looks rather poor. If you look at the Rex they went to the trouble to round that edge that leads into the mesh. Granted, TWICE the price, come on!

I'm interested in the grill. Keep us informed if you get a group price. I do notice that the T-Rex grill looks like it comes with the wings and emblem, so that's a plus.

I've talked to a few guys that make grills and this is a fair value based on the material and the construction. Keep in mind if we can get a group buy we might be at the $425 or so. Either way it's all about personel taste and price is what we consider to be a fair value. Some of us have paid MSRP plus and some of us haven't, it's what makes us happy in the end.

Has anyone that is looking for this grill noticed that the one now shown on T-Rex's website is not the same model as previously shown? The current one on their website has what appears to be a stamped edge on the inside instead of the rolled edge that the previous posts have shown. They also have a caveat next to it stating: "picture may not exactly match actual product". Sounds to me like they're still shopping someone to make it in China.

I'm also wondering what the estimated pricing might be for the "DUB Edition" packages that Mopar is teaming up to do. I know many of the DUB's had Strut grills, but I just can't see Mopar backing that type of high end package. Anyone know which one it is on the "DUB Edition" page? It looks like a Strut with the exception of the Chrysler logo.

These manufacturers that are using the Chrysler wing emblem will probably be getting their C&D, cease & desist letters any day. Many were at SEMA and others are running ads and are on the Internet.

At SEMA the licensing departments of all the major vehicle manufacturers walk the floor with their cameras and notebooks. Some companies they want to license and collect their fees from. Other companies for various reasons they do not license.

What is infuriating to an aftermarket manufacturer that plays by the rules is to see these other companies continue to use trademarked logos without any consequences.
