Here is the strap, the plastic piece jutting out above the screw had to be dremmeled flush for a better fit and allow the screw a better purchase. Sorry for the blur.

Here are some pics of the strap as I have mounted it, just as previously described by me and II kings 9:20.

Trunk Pull

I suppose it depends on how big your hands are, but what I have been doing is grabbing the area near the latch inside the trunk (fabric covered housing) and using it to pull the trunk down. I was really frustrated to find they overlooked putting in an actual pull down. Especially considering the European influence.

Works like a charm, just completed a 600 mile trip and it came in very "handy".

Trunk Closer

The pull handles mentioned in other threads are great (for a 20K car) but come on you tricksters tell us how to have a power pull down like the Caddy's have had for years or the full closer like the current lincolns have. Lets look at this like its a 50K mercedes not a K car. I challenge all you guys that like to customize. Do it and I'll bet you have a number of us buying it.

Of course I can be done, but I will not be cost effective.

If Chip Foose can do it, so can you. I'm sure it can be done for less than $1K.... LOL

4 Fingers on the trunk emblem works fine for me

I have a similar problem with my Pontiac Bonneville SSEI. I used to pull the trunk down by placing my fingers in the grooves of the taillight assembly.
However, eventually the taillight bolts busted off in a heatwave.
Since then I have been grabbing the SSEI emblem in the middle of the trunk. So far that has not come off yet.

I find the force required to close the trunk to be relatively light. I lightly pull down on the Chrysler emblem with 4 fingers. I use the strap frequently on the rear door of my Expedition, but would personally find a strap on the C's trunk to be overkill. That being said, a $1 (mfg. cost) strap addition would have been nice for those who prefer it.
