don't do this

wow didn't see this coming!!!
last week i put on my new DUB grille, and i must say i am very impressed. while i was doing the mod i decided to remove my air silencer as well for kicks, as i was doing this i thought that if i removed the black inserts from my fog light areas that extra air would flow in and help my intake...

today on my ride to work i crossed the dames point bridge going my usual 100+ mph (i like to get to work fast) this must have happened

i know its kinda hard to see but what happened was all the air flowing through the fog light vents pushed the wheel well against my tire and burned a huge hole into it!!! or at least this is my theory...
anyone have any ideas on this or experiaced this also... or how do i go about fixing this?

I had a similar experience in my srt8; the plastic cover under the engine blew off at 145. Replacing was $260+-. Im guessing that one of the buttons holding the wheel well liner was loose and the air pressure just blew the bottom off the car. One of the wheel wells also came loose.

Needless to say it was an interesting experience; if you know what I mean.

It looks like you removed one or more of the pins (fasteners) that hold it in place, thus causing you wheel well to be pushed inward.
I have removed mine (vent inserts) and have not had this problem (up to 120) though I replaced all my pins.

ya when i put the DUB grille on they gave me replacement pins to hold the well in place and i think they were not as good as the stock pins...

LOL. I went through the same deal, only my problem was that I didn't put the rivets back in right away. I had to replace both splash shealds. It was about $60 per side from the dealership for the parts and I installed them on my own.

This link by Meister pretty much fits your current problem. Fender well liner mod - required when lower engine shroud removed

Are you talking about the cover that's removed for oil changes or the one forward of that with the brake cooling vents that's the width of the car? If it's the later, I just picked up a new one yesterday for $196 CDN (taxes in). The 2 holes to the rear of it had elongated causing the bolts that hold it in place to slip through the holes. It was pointed out to me during my last oil change. They suggested using large washers, but I wanted it perfect and got them to order me a new one. The ONLY thing that could have caused this is when I ran over a large dead flat animal on my trip to California...haha. It's amazing how truly flat and smooth the car is underneath.

Well now I have concerns. I bought and installed the wire mesh for the lower vents. You take off the black solid plastic plates and replace it with the mesh. This allows all the air to flow through. I put the factory clips all back in place but I better look out for this! Had I known I would not of done that mod!

It won't be a problem as long as you use clips that are strong enough to hold the splash shield in place...
