when I talked to AVElectronics they suggested that if I I have Sirius that I should find the wires that go from the sirius receiver to the headunit.
So then I would run the audio from the sirius to the switch they sell when they mod, connect the audio from DVD, etc to it, and then the entire switch audio out goes to where the sirius out WAS going to.
i would definitely be willing to buy the sirius equipment if we could find the guy that did this and have him give us exactly what he did and how.... otherwise were still shootin in the dark with that idea.... but at least we have a good idea it can be done!
Been there done that.
If someone can tell me how to wire a switch inline with sirius input on the back of the radio to allow me to switch from Sirius to RCA input, I'll do it tonight. Pins 1 and 6 and the common ground. The wiring is easy, its the switch that has me confused.
I don't have the electronic know how though. Relay?
ill tell ya what rogue...you definitely look like your on the right path.... goodluck, i hope to follow in your footsteps if your successful....
now i didnt get sirius with my car, do u happen to know how much it costs for the add on kit.... and if im just using the sirius receiver to wire in an input, do u still think ill need to subscribe to sirius to make it work?
actually there not, i talked to avelectronics and what there doing is tapping into the video line and simply overriding the screen as soon as you turn on there little power switch, and all your factory things such as (navigation) are still runnin in the background - BUT ILL TAKE YOUR 10-1 ODDS
Wow I stand corrected, so they are basically bypassing everything and just overlaying the video on top of the current signal so it shows....very interesting..
Not a single 2005 Chrysler NAV unit has been modded to play DVDs from its DVD slot. They all require usage of an extrernal DVD player mounted in the trunk or center console.
Ahh that makes more sense, I was under the impression the av selector you get with this mod was soley for extra accessories..

OK I havent seen any of this stuff so Im throwing things out, but could you not tap the 1 and 6 on the c2 plug with a audio selector, one such as used on speaker selectors of possibly an inline one thats used to select microphones and have it switch in the signal from the alternate source
i tell ya what rogue you figure this out and you could make some money, cuz id be first in line to send u my sirius to have u wire it for me, for some cash. - that is if u were interested in doing it - lol.
Well here is one way that it could probably be accompilshed but this is only going in not switchable...

this could splice into the 1/6 on the c2 plug and the rca end go into a selector output then splice into the 6/12 on the satellite plug run this into an input on the selector and whatever else you wanted to...

Splicing in isn't the issue, its the switching process I don't know how to do. I'm going to place some calls today and find out what I can. In theory this should be easy as cake.
