Questions about trimm'in the door-guards

OK, I bought my 300C in May of 2006. LOVE the car and love the look.

I'm ready to take the next step in my mods by shaving the door (removing the door guards).

Questions:

1. Any concern about paint being a different shade where the guards were?

2. After following the guidelines I've read about here (using floss, goo-gone, etc.), would it be a good idea to get a good exterior detail (buffing, etc.) from a pro?

3. It's pretty cold out these days, should I wait until it warms up (what temp?) before doing this? Or will a hair dryer/heat gun (on VERY LOW) work well enough?

Your advice is welcome.

Scott

The paint should be the same all the way through. As for your other questions, I'll let someone else who has experience give their 2 cents.

Has anyone who did this mod experienced a "rattle" in their doors? The molding adds a little weight and structure to the outside of the doors. I did this to a car I had in the past and the doors felt loud and cheap after that. Just my .02 as well...

No the doors don't sound loud or rattle after removing the door mouldings. I took the door mouldings off of both the 300 and the Magnum. The Charger did not come with any, woo hoo.

The word from DCX is they are considering not installing the door mouldings on all 3 LX's. They too have liked the way our cars look after the moulding has been romoved, with the pictures we post of it here.

Smooth and sexy.
