side trim on doors

Does anyone know how the side trim on the doors is mounted? Is it just taped on?

its just 3m two sided tape. i took my moldlings off it was pretty easy.

any pics? i'd like to see one without trim. thinking about doing mine but i'm worried about losing the dent protection.
