Anyone having terrible fitment issues w/the VIP spoiler Group Buy

SO, after VIP forgot to ship my unpainted rear window spoiler with the rest of the spoilers from the group buy..i was told from James that they would ship it to me directly from VIP. That was fine with me so i waited.

edited:

The spoiler came in yesterday. When i test fitted it over the rear window, it does not line up with the top of the window, there is a 1/4'' gap on the left side.

well im about to go de-stress..ill be back later with pics...i need help to take them and im the only one here.

yeah check on that right after work...it might be a bad mold or something. the surface is very smooth, looks very easy to prep and paint, its just the fitment issue..its slightly warped or something.

We have installed many of these spoilers before and there may has been a 1/4" tolerance on fitment but after properly installing have not had any issues. 3M double sided tape is really strong and it will hold. There is some flex to these spoilers so they will move some when installing. Can you please send me some pics of your issues, we will get it figured out. Remember yours is only in a gelcoat now, it must be prepped, primed, painted, cleared, and buffed to give a glossy appearance. Pics would be nice. Let me know.

The spoiler came in yesterday and i gotta say that the fitment and overall shape is terrible. Its not the same shape all the way accross..the left side of the wing is thinner than the right side. And when i test fitted it over the rear window, it does not line up with the top of the window, there is a 1/4'' gap on the left side. There is no way that this will stay on the car like this. The slightest wind will rip it right off, i can already tell. It sits flush if i press on it with pressure but i shouldnt have to do that, there is no way that some 3m tape will make this stick.

Im so frustrated right now

anyone else having problems? its a good thing i didnt pay for paint and smoothing because it would have been a total waste. go and make sure your spoilers sit flush, dont assume they do..

well im about to go de-stress..ill be back later with pics...i need help to take them and im the only one here.

3M take is surprisingly strong, almost as strong as my spelling is bad, lol. It should hold man.

No Problem, we will get it worked out. On the install unless your gelcoat is extremely smooth (which it may be) the 3M tape might not hold as well as it does on a clearcoat. Can you send me some pics so I can see what is going on?

here are some pics. i would like to correct my previous statements..the fitment isnt "terrible"..its just off a little bit on one corner, i put some pressure on the middle of the spoiler and fits fine. im just worried about the summer heat here in houston..the heat index gets up to 110 degrees and i have heard of problems with the srt8 spoilers peeling in the heat.

but anywho, im keeping it and getting it painted installed because it looks so freakin awesome and ive been waiting 2 years to get this. thanks for the good deal and hard work on this group buy James! itll work out fine...

the 1st pic is the gap..

another shot..

perfect fit on the right side...

this pic is with the pressure on the spoiler, fits perfect.

nice n smooth..
