Project: Rear entertainment console

Well, as far as I am concerned this car is a 4 seater... that hump in the middle of the back seat is rather useless for a full sized person, but that is fine because 4 is usually the most that get put into the car. As such I am planing on making a rear DVD entertainment console, which will match the trim of the rest of the console essentially complletely splitting the two back seats. I hope to include a decent sizes lcd screen that folds into the fabricated console, and get some small portable dvd/pc setup with wireless head phones, etc.

Before I embark on the project I was wondering if any are available in the market that are not roof mounted, as to save me from completely making the thing (no point wasting time and effort if I can purchase it in a box).

I want this unit to fit snuggly but also be removable if the situation arises... I plan on having a mock up soon.

Can't wait!

Sounds great. I can't wait to see it and would consider it. Why do you not want to consider an overhead screen? The sharper image catalog has a small cooler/warmer that is designed to run on your cars 12 volts. Looks the size of the rear arm rest but about an inch taller. I thought this would be neat. Rolls and Bentley's sometimes are ordered with this as an option built into the rear arm rest. It was rather low cost. Seem to recall maybe 50-65 dollars.

When my 300C arrives, I'll be looking at putting in the headrest screens for the back seat occupants. Ebay has many systems with 2 screens and a player for $400 or less.

I personally would stay away from the overhead screens. I have the factory one in my 2003 Yukon XL and it totally blocks the rear view mirror when lowered.

That is essentially why I am weary of the overhead setup, but I might lay off and check out the factory system.

In a car like the 300c you would be hard pressed to find a sedan with an overhead mounted TV unit. It just doesn't make that much sense seeing how it blocks your view in the rear view mirror. I would suggest units that can be molded into the rear console or even some form of motorized unit that could pop up through the center console in the rear. Now you guys just gave me an idea I'm going to take a look and see what would work best.

And JonW I know there are a lot of units on ebay for 400 for 2 screens and a unit but be careful because you could be getting something refurbished or even a product that has sub par quality. In a classy vehicle like the 300c don't go for the cheapest set up go for what looks the best.

They don't have the 300C listed as available yet. Do a google search on

kwik klip dvd

And you can see who carries it. Maybe one of the other chrysler cars will fit.
