First official mod

Its not much, been done a million times before, but its my first...

I had the car for just over 24 hours and it was just killing me seeing those damn side moldings! hehe I'm not any more worried about door dings w/o them than I was with them. My extended warranty covers paint dent repair (on all vertical surfaces). Not that I'll be parking close to ANYONE, but if it happens, I'm covered.

And since no post is complete w/o pics...

Before

My chosen method of extraction (only to get it started). I wrapped a microfiber towel over the hammer and used gentle pressure to start prying the end upwards. I sprayed the top of the moldings w/ WD40 for about 2 minutes and it made a world of difference! Absolutely NO glue and/or residue was left behind. I guess doing this to a new car makes a difference.

Halfway done. I contemplated being different than everyone else and leaving it just like this. hehe

And a few pics after I was done. I'll post some daylight pics later today. Sorry these are kinda dark. I didn't do the trunk badge yet. I will take it off when I take off the rear wing and have the holes filled/painted. I am leaving the 300C badge on the front for now. I can always change my mind later.

So there ya go folks. Enjoy.

ps - looks like I need to clean my camera.

funny.. i took mine off yesterday too, and the paint between the two strips of tape on both front doors was bubbled so bad it looks like i have the bible written in braille on the side of my car. it was only on the front doors so it isnt that bad.. but i kept the moldings so if it costs too much to fix, theyre going back on.. ugh. i really dont know what caused this.. im guessing it just got really hot under the molding and started bubbling. either way, right now it looks like sh!t. so fair warning to anyone with a older (05) who might be wanting to do this..

BUT IT LOOKS SO GOOD!!!

and props nowyouracowner, this is how it all begins..

The doors went from being 2.5 ft tall to damn near 10.5 ft tall! ok, slight exageration, but you get my drift

ahhhh, to mold or no to mold. i like the moldings but that doesn't prevent me from appreciating a great mod job. yours look fantastic. (i just waxed my car today and told myself how easy this would be w/o the moldings.)

Hey NotYet, that looks sweet. I like the way the 07's have the 300C badge on there now. I think that was a good choice leaving that one on there. And like you said, if you end up not liking it, out comes the hammer again, and off it goes!
I'm happy for you that you FINALLY got your car. Just saw your intro pics in your other thread. Man, take a couple of days off from reading this forum and you miss everything!! Who would have figured I miss the birth moment LOL

It's also pretty annoying seeing you standing there in your shorts, and it being warm enough to take your moldings off. We got out 06 in late December, and the first thing I wanted to do was get those off, but it's been too cold to do! Man, it's April already, and we still have a 2 feet of snow in the yard. Come on Spring already! It's also not looking good for removing the moldings this weekend either, here's our 5 day forecast:

Text Forecast from Environment Canada

Edmonton: Issued 4.00 PM MDT Friday 30 March 2007

Tonight Cloudy periods. Low minus 2.

Saturday Cloudy. Flurries beginning in the morning and ending in the afternoon. Clearing later in the afternoon. Wind becoming northwest 30 km/h gusting to 50 in the morning. High plus 2.
Saturday night
A few clouds. Wind northwest 20 km/h. Low minus 10.
Sunday
Sunny. High minus 3.
Monday A mix of sun and cloud. Low minus 13. High minus 6.
Tuesday
A mix of sun and cloud. Low minus 18. High minus 1.

I am so tired of seeing the temperatures that start with the damn word MINUS!
I have a new set of 20" rims sitting in the living room (been putting coats of wax on them while I wait for the snow to melt), a set of Toyos in the garage, TPS's sitting in the kitchen next to the new pedals.....waiting and waiting. I did put the new grill on the one day it warmed up to +9 though

Congrats again on the car, and I bet now you would say "it was worth the wait"
