Mod update: Chrysler emblem and center caps.

Last year I found this Chrysler script emblem off of E-bay. There was a box attached to the end of the r, in Chrysler. When time permitted, I would take the emblem over to my buddies metal fabrication shop. They have a water jet and can make just about anything you want.

Like last years SF event in Cali., this year was no different. I ran out of time to get a few smaller mods done and installed on my car, before leaving for Cali. It always seems I get the mods done soon after getting back from SF.

This emblem is 90% done. I have NOT attached the 300 and SRT letters in the box yet (yes they are not straight). I also have to cut the pegs off of the back and fill in the back of the emblem with some JB Weld. Then I will have a flat surface to apply some 3M double sided tape before installing the emblem on the rear trunk lid.

This is an original early 60's Chrysler emblem. It was in decent shape for it's age (pitting, some rusting). I had it sand blasted and then given new life in the Chrome bath. After that I had the recessed part of the box painted in black. When the 300SRT letters were cut on the water jet, I then had them painted in matching body color (Silver Steel Metallic).

These 300 wheel center caps are not really center caps at all. They are 300 door panel emblems (in metal, almost 3" wide) from the early 60's Chrysler 300's. I had them re-chromed originally and then tapped off and painted in silver steel and a chrome ring, then tried a black ring. In the end I painted the entire center cap in Silver Steel and then went back and used a paint thinner to wipe off the paint on the 300 chrome letters underneath. Since my wheels are Silver Steel metallic now, the all silver steel center caps look much better.

OMG! Those pieces are fabulous! Birdman, you have once again outdone yourself. We don't care that they weren't finished in time for SFLX. Perfection is more important than just slapping on some new mod. Another M & G will just get to be the lucky first to see your creations. I have a feeling that all those Chocodiles helped to give you the energy and impetus to finish this project.

Congratulations bro! I can't wait to see them attached to FreebirdSRT.
bruno

p.s. My LED mirrors are finally on!!!

Nice Job Mark! One of these days I want to see FreebirdSRT is personal, along with the rest of the stable. IF you EVER head out here to the east... we have to hook up!

It used to be that way when I was searching for all of the 1955-1965 Chrysler letter car emblems. I haven't bought an emblem in some time.

looks good......so those new "300" center caps are for the 5 spoke wheels?
Yes, I had my USW wheels painted in Silver Steel metallic last summer. I will attach the 300 center caps, with 3M double sided tape, to the flush, painted center cap you see on the wheel now. When I get the car cleaned up real good from the drive to Cali. and back. I will post pictures with the center caps installed and the rotors and calipers are now in powder coated Silver Steel as well.

cant wait to see the end result on the car!!!!
The 300 is still not finished and will still get some mods, but very slowly now. Since she is the most modded of my SRT's. The wagon and Bee and next.

My attitude was a lot less extreme this year in getting ready for SF. I had a cut off date and what did not get finished, had to wait until another time, after SF. Yes the Chocodiles from MN are keeping me going strong.
