Have you thought of Modding stock Grille? Or painting this one?

Hello, I have been on this forum for 2 years, first with my C now with my SRT. I want to do a grille, but I don't want to spend $500 on a TZ, and I love the look.

I enjoy messing with things, and love my dremmel. How many of you have modded your current factory grille and added a mesh behind? In other words cutting the middle out, and using it as a deep dish grill?

Is this way more work that I can do?

My other thought was buying this, ABS Ebay grille, and color matching it to my Silver SRT8... Has anyone considered or done this?

If anyone has pics I would really appreciate it, especially on a Silver C. Below is the cheapy I was going to buy to paint up...

I midded my stock grill.
If your good with a dremmel than you should have no problem.
I cut out all the vertical bars and added a mesh in the back.

Stock Grill with center bar left and with Silver mesh in the back

Stock Grill re-modified by getting rid of semi cricles and center vertical from first image

Stock grill with black mesh

Im in the process of modifying it again but Im gonna paint the grill gloss black and trim it a little more and add a mesh that matches my bright silver.

If you need tips on doing this, let me know.

there have been quite a few members who have creatively modded their stock grills. i say go for it...very unique and you can take pride in what you've done. with as many of us who've changed our grill, i'm sure there are members who will sell (for cheap) or donate (for shipping) their stock grills to you to practice on.

i know my buddies from DFWLX have blacked their stock grills out....looks awesome.

I got one off ebay for $30 shipped and I'm in the process of moding it right now. It is easy to cut out all the bars if you are good with a dremel, so far thats as far as I have gotten, lol. Its a really nice day and I think I will start on it again when I get home. The problem is you are left with cutouts along the border because the cross bars are hollow. I could just fill them in with bondo, but I want the deep dish effect like the tommy Z ones. Anyone have an idea how to add depth to the grill with out using metal or fiberglass? I'm good with bondo, but have no fiberglass expierence, there has to be something I could use to get those extra couple of inches to get the deepdish effect.

All of them. I want to but billet aluminum behind the grill, like a deep dish, but it will not be a true deep dish unless I can add some depth to the outer perimeter.
