Front end road wear.

Hi guys - I'm posting this because I have alot of road wear on the front bumper, front hood and front of the wheel wells. I do alot of highway miles (20K so far) and it just pisses me off when I see a new pit or chip.

I've thought about getting a clearbra type solution but at this point is it really worth it? How about taking it to an Auto Body shop for re-painting? Does anyone have any experience with this?

Several folks have the clear bra and swear by them. If it were me and you were going to put the clear bra on...repaint the front end first. No sense protecting an already beat up front end.

G'luck.

yeah I'm going for the clear bra within the next week or so.

at 51,000 miles my front end was tore up.. I just spent $1000 repainting and redoing the look and I don't want it to get tore up again.

Hey Incredible, I just got a quote for about $600 for a clear bra install. They will be doing the full monty front of the car. I don't have too much damage, it's not that bad but I'm still wondering if a fresh paint job would be worth it before install.

What did you get re-painted for the $1000? Did they do any sanding, body work, etc.. as well? Thanks man-

if you get it painted you'll have to wait about 90 days to do the install. You have to let the paint cure before sealing/covering it like that. Just a heads up.

oh I got wacked in the rear of the car by a semi.. so while the car was at the dealership I had a Xenon kit installed, the front repainted, a TommyZ grill installed and a bunch of other stuff.. cost me $960 or so beyond the insurance coverage.

I think the Repaint for the front fascia was $240 at the dealership.

yes it was a complete R&R (refresh and restore). sanding etc..

correct, if you repaint and put on the clear bra too soon the paint will bubble and peal.

Thanks guys, good stuff. I think I'll do a repaint and then wait 3 or 4 months to install a clearbra. $600 is worth the investment in my opinion. I might even use a leather bra in the winter for those damn sand trucks on the highway.
