Flat Black

Okay I should be painting my car this next weekend and I am thinking about going flat black but I dont know too much about the paints pros and cons. Example finger prints, scratchs, dirt, etc... Does anyone know somebody that has their vehicle painted flat black or could give me an idea of the downside to this color. I know they also have a flat clear coat so I wasn't sure if that would help with the finger print issue. Thanks in advance.

Can't answer your paint question, but I noticed you have a 2005 300C SRT8! There're extremely rare. If you'd like to PM me your VIN I can tell you a few things about your car. Thanks to ResumeSpeed I have all the VIN's, when they were built and what number yours is and some other details. There were only 252 + 11 pilots = 263 built for the 05 model year.

Just thought of something. What you're describing sounds like what they do to rat rods with flat paint. I did a search and came up with several examples of what the paint would look like. Here's just one and the paint looks just fine - http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2586783.

Grider68, just sent you a PM with the details of your EXTREMLY RARE car. It's your car of course, but I'm hoping you'll reconsider based on the information I dug up on it.

Wow

Well with it being number 29 I think I will keep it silver. I have also replaced the rear end but I have the original anything else I should be concerned with keeping original?

Yes, you can ask the dealer if it ever got the TCM flash TSB done for the 1-2 shift hesitation. I have no intention of getting it done. At best I'd buy a new TCM, but i don't think I'll even do that.

What I mean by this is by keeping it original, you're able to hold a gear in autostick. With the flash it shifts for you so you don't bounce off the rev limiter. I've heard recently it MAY be possible to reverse it, but I ain't taking any chances. The SRT Engineers say it can't be reversed, so who knows.

I would look at a satin black instead of a flat black.
