Turning all the chrome into gold.

Haha.....anyways, speaking of which, I saw an ad the otherday for Midnight Club 3 and they had a featured 300 with all the chrome trim in gold. Even tho it was a video game, the look kinda grew on me. I have a goomba buddy of mine with a new Deville, where he took all the chrome trim on it and had it 14K gold plated. I thought it was gonna turn out gaudy, but I must say it looks pretty damn good. I know this is possible, but will probably cost a fortune. Just wanted to see if anyone has seen, or has pics of a 300C with gold trim instead of chrome. Either a black, or white one, with some nice gold rims and grill would look sick I think. I'm going to talk to my pal (the same guy whos now puttin hardwood floors in his Deville) and see how much it cost him. Anyone out there who really wants an over-the-top show car......doing this would be it.

As a matter of fact, there is somebody selling such gold plated-type plastic trim on eBay as we speak...good luck.

I've seen gold kits like the ones your talking about on late night tv for cheap. Beware, I've heard they flake off pretty easily and wrinkle up if you don't know what your doing.

yea i definatly wouldnt buy any cheap plastic-3MM-tape-on-gold. id go have it professionally done and heavily microplated like my friend did with his caddy. he had this done well over 3 years ago when we were still in high school, and drives the car every day (even in the winter, he keeps his Vouges on, in NY of all places!).....i must say the gold looks like it was done yesterday and you cant see any signs of corrosion. i know this is a 300C forum but ill try and get some pics of his caddy, probably the most classy one ive ever seen, and i think some of you guys may appreciate it.

Thank you for being the first...wouldn't want to be thought of as 'negative' again....but I think gold packages are one of those 'why oh why' things.

Whew...Thank the heavens.

..Though I'm sure there's gold trimmed ones with rag tops and 24" spinners out there somewhere. I'll pray for them.

I'd have to say if it was done right...
the side moldings, wings the window trim.

I would not do the mirrors or the grille. I think at the least the mirriors would need to be color matched.

As long as it is not over the top, I think it would look good.
