Response to Spiderlite Review by 300C_AWD

How did you fit a large Spiderlite into the 300C? The large-sized arms will not extend fully in the 300C and the Spiderlite will not function as intended if the arms are not fully extended. If the Spiderlites have been modified in any way then we are not responsible for their function. The small and medium 5 arm sizes have 10 LEDs forward facing and 10 LEDs rearward facing which take full advantage of the reflector. The small size is recommended for the 300C which will be available in May. The Spiderlite LEDs are not normal 20mA LEDs they are in fact 50mA power SMD LEDs which are considerably higher grade and higher cost due to their brightness in such a small package. The Spiderlite color meets the SAE specification for brake/taillight function.

In regards to the Superflux Lumiled LEDs they are approx 6 times larger than the Spiderlite LEDs. You will not be able to package these LEDs on both sides of the Spiderlite arms and still be able to collapse them into a standard mounting hole. If you use just one LED to replace the stock bulb you will get a very bright spot of light in your taillight when viewed from the rear and it will NOT use the reflector at all. The SAE specification requires that there be a certain effective area of illumination for all functions brake, tail, signal which will be difficult to meet with one LED. The Spiderlite takes advantage of the reflector when used properly. The Spiderilte LEDs are spread out to get a better effective area of illumination when viewed in operation and to give a distinct and unique pattern which you cannot get from one LED or a cluster of LEDs in a small concentrated area.

Before performing any tests by an accredited lab, you should obtain the proper size/model for your application.

We believe that we have an innovative and quality product that looks great as some of your members have already seen. We have received excellent reviews and have won awards for the Spiderlite product.

Best Regards,
The Spiderlite Team

You already posted this within the original thread. Was a "new" thread about this truly necessary?

So Siderlite; your saying that if I purchase your medium sized spiderlites that I will be satisfied if not delighted with the operation and looks of them?

Personally, I think they light design itself looks pretty cool, as well as unique. I have never seen them in person, and videos and pictures never do justice, so I can not make a decision as to whether or not to buy them. Some members recommended them, but 300C_AWD's contradictory review is now giving me second thoughts. As it stands right now I am not willing to pay $100 for them. I know some of you on here have no probem with paying that, but I know I'm not alone here with saying they are a bit pricey. I think Spider Lite should drop prices a lil more.......just my 2 cents.

Thumbs up

I think forum members would be satisfied with the brightness and look of the spiderlites. They are definately brighter than stock both with normal running lights and stoplites. Need to see them in person rather than reading all the technical responses.
