spring compressor?

hey, i have had my new springs for 2 weeks now, and still have not got them put in. the guy that was going to do it has been real busy and does not have time. i would take it to another shop, but everyone is charging from 450-800 to put the springs in. all that i need to know is if you need to use a spring compressor to do the switch, and if not then i will do it myself. i looked at the front yesterday, and they seem to be pretty easy to get out, but i may be mistaken because i have never done this before. if anyone would like to post up a few pointers to look for, then it is welcome because i really have to get this done within the next 2 weeks for the car show. your help will greatly be appreciated.

i would call around to a couple more shops. install shouldn't run you more than $180-$200. i think midas or meineke will put them in for around $150. just start calling around a little more. i got my eibachs put in for $120 at a speed shop around town.
now hurry up and install those sprints so people can see what the drop looks like!

If they need to be compressed you can get a tool at a local Auto Parts Store that clamps up to the spring and you turn a knob and it compresses the spring. You put the spring in and then untighten the knob and you are good to go.

But like they said above, you should not have to pay $400 for an install. You should be able to find a shop that will do it for less than $200, more closer to the low $100's.

Just be careful. There is a tremendous amount of pent up energy in compressed springs. Not to say you shouldn't do it, just BE CAREFUL.
