Need opinion on grille issue

I just got the E&G Classics Heavy Mesh Grille with center bar for my 2006 300C. Just got a call from the body shop that they are saying it is defective and does not fit correctly. They say it is about a 1/2" short all around.

Has anyone had any issues with these grilles before? Just seems odd as I see so many pics of this grill on the 300 that I figured I wouldn't have any issues.

I even double checked, and the part number I ordered from autotrucktoys.com is
EG1099-0104-05CB and on their website they say it will work on a 2005-08 Chrysler 300C.

This stinks.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

OK talked further and got E&G to talk to my body shop. Body shop is leary because two new holes need to be drilled into the bumper, and two holes need to be elongated. They said the bumper could crack when they drill the holes, or that it could crack later on.

Do I have anything to worry about here? Plus they are charging me about $90 to do the install.

HELP!!

Hundreds of members have installed E & G Classic Grilles and I have never heard of one that did not fit properly. Yes, holes need to be drilled but they are not a problem such as cracks.

Make sure your installer is following the directions from E & G's website:
http://www.egclassic.com/inventory/item.php?itemid=124

It takes a little less than an hour to install. So, if your shop charges $90.00 per hour, then that would be a 'fair' price although somewhat higher than the price many other shops charge per hour.

Good luck! It should look great when all is said and done.

Yeah they are figuring a couple hours for the install. Plus it seems that shop rates are a bit higher here where I live compared to other places. Reason I'm having them do it was I was in an accident, and I was able to get a deal with my ins. that they would give me the price for the factory grille so I could apply it towards an aftermarket one. Otherwise I'd do the install myself.

I think they were just not excited about doing the extra work, so they wanted to scare me a bit.

Thanks for the info. I'm excited to see the results. I also got the inserts for the lower bumper by the fog lights. These I'll be doing myself at my next oil change.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Still, you will really enjoy the looks of this grille. It's solid and I like the added touch of the center bar. Trust me, the drilling will not crack the fascia if they follow the instructions correctly. Sounds like they are just being lazy or are not very confident with their work.

Glad to hear you're going to install the lower mesh inserts. I actually like not having anything placed below. Once the baffles were removed, I just left the lower area opened. Make sure to post up pics when finished.

Definitely will. This is my first modification. I'd like to get the windows tinted next along with some new wheels.

Just got it back from the shop today. Boy does it look sharp. I just need to adjust the license plate now to make it look good....they mounted it in its factory location.

If the weather is nice I think I'll do that and get the bumper grilles in this weekend.

That's great news. Too bad you can't lose the front license plate. So many of us do but are willing to take the chance of getting the fix-it citation.
