LED taillights in 2005 300 touring

I bought LED tails for my 05 300 touring with the amber signal. I installed them, then the fast signal flash occurred. I rewired the FCM. It works with 5 watt 3.7 ohm resistors fine. When I press the brake for any amount of time the resistors get very hot. They burned out in no time. I was wondering if anyone has done this mod, and if I got a higher wattage resistor would this fix my problem. I am a new member and I've been reading the threads on this, but no one has successfully done this.If you have any input it would be appreciated. Thanks alot.
