Desiree, you are one persistent person. Great work on your own DRL, I chimed in on this way back in the thread last summer but simply gave up feeling somewhat more visible in Vanilla rather than the darker colors. nevertheless, DRL are a major safety item that I want. Now that the new one's have them, any chance the Bozos at the stealership can now "flash" the sw and get them on?

Just reading this thread has brought on so many issues with my, yet to have SRT8. Do they come with DRL's? I read somewhere that they don't... Is this correct?

My wife thinks I am making enemies at the stealership. What else are they there for after the sale? Warranty repair work, right. And then you have to drag'em kicking to do it!

I told DC and the stealership that I didn't like the stupid bouncy front floor carpet. Feels like the floor in my old rotted out '72 240Z. Shouldn't be that way in Chrysler's flagship. A poor design even more poorly executed! They said that's just the way it is.

And their total ignorance on the DRL's is just amazing to me. After talking to them I'm of the belief that I know more about DRL's than all of them put together, except possibly for the poor ASM who tried and failed to "enable" them. He at least knew how to plugin the Starscan tool. He has probably been told to stay away from me!

I am persistent because I am right. Heck, we're all right on this one. It's just that simple. And as soon as I can show them that they are NOT right we'll all have DRL's like our Canadian neighbors.

I heard all '06's will have DRL's (I think right here on this thread actually). I also heard all California emissions-equipped cars get DRL's (no clue as to the relationship between emissions and DRL's!). So, how come the ASM and SM (and their technician) at the stealership where I got my '05 300C, and their DM, don't have a clue as to how to get them operating on an '05? These cars are not all that different, especially since Canada has always had DRL's. They're just going to make it look like the lower 48 will be getting something new for '06.
When GM came out with DRL's standard across their product line sometime back in '92 or '93, I remember them advertising during the World Series that older cars (I had a '90 Chevy back then) could have DRL's added by a dealership (for a fee of course). I never had them done then, but now is not then. My '97 Mustang just needs a plugin device. The connector is all ready there ready to go. But of course, it's the same car in Canada except for the plugin.
As far as I can tell from my research of wiring diagrams (none of those kinds of notes like "Except DRL-equipped") there isn't a thing we need to 'plug in" as there is not place to plug anything in, except for the StarScan tool.

Well I have an 06 300C and there is no DRL option in the system settings.

Well then, that just about debunks the '06 gets'em statement made awhile back. I wouldn't think it would be an owner-activated option, but just there, period.
So that must have been a "fleet" vehicle or a Kanook-mobile a long way from home that I saw yesterday! Ah, it was awesome to behold in full programmed operation, even if for only a few seconds, and then only as a reflection in my rearview! (Nyuk nyuk)

Well, another two weeks off the calendar and no response from the stealership's SM or DC's DM. I think they have put me on permanent ignore.
I haven't exactly been idle. If all goes well by this time next week I'll be driving into the stealership to "Shock And Awe" them with DRL's of my own design and installation. I am working on the third iteration of my design. Iteration one was good. Iteration two is great. Iteration three will probably be the last as it will be almost indistinguishable from DC's Canadian-version.

The construction of my third iteration DRL circuitry took a slight setback yesterday when one of the two circuits failed to pass final bench test. I am thinking I got a bad component. I hate diagnosing troubles. Oh well, back to the workbench!

However, on the ride into the saltmine this A.M. I sighted yet another 300 with DRL's! I let my SM know first thing. To wit:

"Yes, yet another sighting!
This A.M. at approximately 7:15A this morning I am north bound on 202 at the exit ramp for 76E when in the right lane is a 300 with DRL’s. He was coming on from whatever side road that ramp connects to, so I had my eye on him expecting him to want to merge to his left as my lane was about to split toward 76E. He did not signal to merge, but continued to go straight toward 76E. And he didn’t exit at Devon Drive. I slide over two cars ahead of him and when we get to 76 I move left to merge and he goes by on my right. Subsequently I follow him in the right lane all the way to Conshohocken where I exit and he gets stuck in the sunglare parking lot. It was a V6 model (couldn’t get close enough to the rear to make out the trunklid badge). The inboard (high beam) headlight fixture didn’t appear to be split horizontally (like my 300C) with the turnsignal directly above the headlamp. It was hard to see that detail in the rearview mirror in traffic. The license plate was PA (number deleted) and the bracket was from Videon Chrysler. It looked to be satin jade in color, but with my sunglasses on it could have been silver or gray.
I will not be at work for the rest of the week......I’ll be around the house the rest of the week ..........If something noteworthy comes up on your end that you’d like to share with me I’ll be at 610-XXX-XXXX."
Now it is remotely possible that my previuos sighting several weeks ago might have been the same car. We were going in the opposite direction at the end of the day. And the exit he took then can lead one to the area where he showed up this A.M. BUT WHAT ARE THE ODDS? Anyway, with that license plate bracket it isn't any fleet vehicle, and it most definitely isn't Canadian!
I'm going to call that stealership's SM and see if he knows anything about DRL's.
Stay tuned.

I called the SM at the Videon Chrysler. Nice enough guy. He said the DRL's can be enabled IF THE CAR HAS THE RIGHT COMPUTER! Well now that's something new. He said wrong computer, no chance. He asked if I had Nav and backup protection. Which I do. He said he had to check with somebody about the specifics but felt because I had those options I probably had the right computer. He is supposed to call me back. He also said I should be able to activated the DRL's through the EVIC. He said it should prompt with something like "DRL ?". Hadn't heard that one before, but it sounds logical, just like all of the other personal settings stuff. I can't find anything about DRLs in my EVIC.
As for the the third iteration of my DRL circuitry design, I found a bad transistor. The adventure continues!

My 'Five Star' Chrysler dealer's service manager said that it can be done through the use of his hand-held 'StarScan' computer programmer by simply changing the car's 'country of origin' code. While I was there, I observed him making such a change on a lady's relatively new Chrysler 'Pacifica' (per her request). He said that he can enable the DRL option on my car if I wanted, but I preferred for him to just reprogram my door locks. Now, they all unlock when I open the driver's door or press the key fob's 'unlock door' button just once.
