FYI just for future reference Marc, by law, the chains have to X over. The reason is, if the trailer falls off the hitch ball, the crossing of the chains will "catch" the tongue and hopefully allow you to slow and get over to the side of the road (yes it will hit the back of the tow vehicle, but better than hitting oncoming traffic and killing someone).
Sorry, pet peve of mine... I tow a big boat.

you'd love it here then.....thats the first time i've seen chains at all!
PA is very strict on towing these days, we had a family (little children and all) killed when a commercial wood chipper got away from a tree service and careened down a hill and broadsided a family car, killed all but one person in the car. And ever since that took place, PA really cracked down on checking out tow vehicles (and I don't blame them, it's not a game).
Ahh ok, I was wondering what that was...does it work
no idea honestly.. I don't tend to run Red lights.. it was a gift from my first wifes father he brought it over from Korea..

No problemo! Just trying to pass along the knowledge. Most people do it exactly as you did it (that's how I used to do it too) I always thought the reason was to just stop the trailer from pulling away from the vehicle in the event of a separation, but it's actually to "catch" and prevent separation, because if the tongue hits the pavement when you are rolling 55mph, may not be pretty!
I have to say, it's certainly interesting seeing any 300 towing anything, much less one as heavily tricked out as yours! Now, if you flat blacked the trailer? It would be PERFECT!
Thats just wrong. I never liked the fact that people use a luxury or sports car to tow, just my opinion. My neighbor tows a small trailer with his CTS... I just find that wrong...
