Ok guys, i started a new thread for this...I ordered my new RED LED Halo's from Andy at AAC and i want to install these using a switch so that i can use my headlights at night without turning on the halo's...anyone have a DIY for this with pix??? Thanks!!!!!!!!
ground the black wires on the LED rings to a common point (all the wires together to prevent a ground loop)
tie all the red wires together and run to one side of a switch, then find a power source (should use an ignition switched so they go off when the car is off) your ashtray lighter plug will work, splice that wire to the other side of the switch, make sure you use a fuse-able link.
if you aren't that handy with electrical any mom and pop stereo shop should be able to do it for $50 - $60
Remote is easy.. Install the box under the hood somewhere where it won't get soaked (passenger side top of the wheel well) wire it straight into the battery pos and negative under the hood, wire it into the halos and woolah!
Sure if you forget to turn them off, they will stay on... But honestly you'd have to leave them on for days if not a week or maybe longer, to kill the battery.

could wire the remote power source to an ignition feed to, then you don't have to worry..
but the OP doesn't want to leave his on all the time, RED lights up front are a no no in most places...

ok thanks for the info...sounds similar to how i did my dvd bypass switch
Red is a no-no anywhere in the US on the front of a non emergency vehicle. I recommended the remote because you can keep them off all the time and all you need to do is hit the remote to turn them on.
Like I said, if you wire them straight to the battery you could conceivably forget to turn them off, but that's never happened with me because they are so fuggin bright!
