Window tint, new grill, yes?

I have ordered the Black Pearl 300C, and one of the first mods will be to do Window Tint. I live in MO and it is legal to all the windows except front with tint. I can't remember what the limit is on how dark. The installers know, something like 30% light. Anyway, I also think it will be interesting to see what the aftermarket comes up with to replace that big grill. It's not bad looking, but I can think of a couple of better options. I would like to see a mesh style grill, similar to some of the high end Jaguars.

Oh yeah. Mine is going to the tint shop next Monday: first mod. I'll probably do 20% all the way around.

I kind of wanted to change the grill at first, but now it's growing on me. Maybe down the road when I get tired of the stock look. For now, though, it's all but stopping traffic as it is!

Excellent... What color is your 300C? How long have you had it and what has it been like regarding handling, noise, driving characteristics, etc... I have test driven one but there is only so much you can remember from a 15 minute test drive. Maybe you could post your own long term test update every now and then. Love to here it is still nice a tight after a few thousand miles.

The grill looks good to me, one of the most striking features of the car if you ask me. I wouldnt change a thing.

Got my 20% done on Monday. . . looks awesome. Need to get some fresh pics this weekend.

Mine's Cool Vanilla. . . looks all the more like a chopped Bentley 'cause of the color. I love it.

In answer to your questions, I have about 1300 miles on her so far and so far so good. Ride is silent, power is great and VERY smooth. . . toys are amazing. Handling is floaty, but it performs really well: just scary coming into curves really fast because of the weight. The ESP is downright amazing (and quite frustrating when you WANT to get crazy). Every time I get in, I can't believe it's a domestic car: it's really that good.

Only a couple of minor complaints: there's a little vibration behind the gauge panel that developed at about 500 miles. Most people wouldn't notice, but drives me nuts. I'm going to dig in and fix it because I know if I warranty it they'll introduce 5 more trying to fix that one. Also, the autostick is LAME with a capital LAME: it won't hold a gear worth a damn (still up and downshifts when it wants), and the tranny doesn't shift any harder when it's engaged. What else. . . mm. . . don't like the overzealous drive-by-wire system. . . it pulls throttle at the drop of a hat, which is a little frustrating. . . . want a really surreal experience? Just take your 300C (after 1K miles or so, just to be nice to it), put it in neutral at a stop, and jam the throttle to the floor. . . no rev limiter, it just backs off the throttle right at 3800rpm every time. . . .

How ofter have your driven with the ESP turned OFF? Notice much of a difference in tranny response or Auto Stick Shifting?

Hey, GMLind, I also live in MO and just ordered a Black 300C.....tint will hit those windows almost immediately after delivery (here's hoping that's not too far away.....)

I had my windows tinted on my present car, and the shop said you can go as dark as "35" on the front windows, and "20" in the back; higher number is LESS tint, i.e. that's the percentage of light the tint will allow IN. Considering 35 for all windows on the 300C just for uniformity's sake.

Sounds good, I will probably do the same 35% tint. I just talked to the dealer today. They are building the 300C this week and should ship it on the 25th. Starting to get excited...

I would definitely recommend 20% tint on all of the windows. I know that it is technically illegal to have less than 35% on the front two in most states, but I put 20% all around on my Jetta and it looks awesome.

I am definately looking to tint mine, but I am a bit unsure about how much. It is already a black car, and I fear it may be a little too much to do 20% all around.
