Among the news from today's New New Chrysler briefing was this slide of the 2012 Dodge Charger. The design is so good it apparently made Ralph Giles weep with joy. Look familiar? There's a reason... This image reveals a sloping belt line and strong curve building from the front to the shoulders, reminiscent of the 1999 Dodge RT Charger Concept (below) it seems to borrow heavily from. We're also told the new Charger initially had rear door handles in the roof line rather than the door panel — giving it a two-door look — but this was eventually dropped. Any other details stick out?

Mechanics were supposed to be fixing a leaky radiator, but when the owner of a £30,000 Vauxhall Monaro car collected it from the local garage, he discovered it had been taken on a joyride at speeds of 125mph.

The owner of the car, who doesn’t want to be named, had installed a Roadhawk black-box recorder three months earlier.

Oh dear, oh dear.

There is a video in the link that is worth watching :)

I reckon this may happen more often that people think !

My CEO drives a BMW 7-Series
My President drives a Lexus IS-F
My VP Drives a BMW 5-Series
My CFO Drives a BMW 3-Series
My Production Manager and Engineering Manager both have Infinity G35s
My Production Manager Assistant has a G37
My Customer Service Supervisor has a BMW X5

(I'm the CIO BTW)

---

now maybe it's just me, but one would think that people who purchase such classy cars would actually know how to use them?

---

Last week my company did a company wide Cell Phone Update, we were entitled to free upgrades and Buy one, Get one from Verizon..

so everyone got either the Tour or The Storm II, didn't cost us anything and everyone got new toys..

Today I was approached by the CEO telling me he wanted his old 8830 back because his Tour was incompatible with his BMW's Blue Tooth, My VP and CFO said the same about the Storm II..

---

so for the last 30 minutes, during their lunch break, we lined up all the cars and one by one I sync'd the new phones to their OEM Hands Free Blue-Tooth systems..

I have never touched a BMW, Infinity, or Lexus OEM sound system before today, never played with their Blue Tooth features, know ZERO about the cars..

but come on, sync'ing a bluetooth device to a headset is child's play, it didn't take any brain power on my part to figure it out, and now they are all sync'd.

I mean, yeah I'm the "computer guy" here, but come on, how the hell do you purchase a car (or anything for that matter) and not have the basic technical skills to operate it?

Even my GF, who has no freaking clue how to use a universal remote (she gets out all of them just to watch a DVD, it's so amusing) knows how to sync her bluetooth phone in her car...

Our son is studying to take his 3rd of 7 architectural licensings exams next week. So he asked if there was any way we could come up to help babysit 2.5 yr/old Alivia so he can do some concentrated studying while his wife works some evenings and Saturday. I couldn't go, and getting air fare with a day or two's notice is well... not encouraging.

So the only option was for my wife to drive it herself. Now this is a woman who doesn't know north from south, and doesn't really pay attention to the route we've driven (and she drives half of it) over a dozen times in the last few years. She has a problem with circular by-pass routes also, e.g., getting on I-270 West at US-33 in Columbus says it's the way to Cincinnati. She says she doesn't want to go to Cinci! LOL I explain to her that it just indicates you can go to Cinci if you head that direction, etc. She doesn't like that a single road can be both US33 North AND US50 West. She thinks it would be much simpler is west roads always went that direction, etc. LOL

So it was with great trepidation that she left this morning for Chicagoland. She and a friend went to AAA to get a Trip Tik. The problem was she coldn't remember the way we go, so part of the map included Dayton (to which we wouldn't go even if we did go the Indy route, which we don't) and thus that booklet was useless.

Our Magellan Roadmate began having intermittent power failures during our last trip, so it isn't reliable. Therefore we asked to use a Garmin NuVi of some friends and I had to learn how to program it last night for the route up and the trip back. In addition, I used Bing Maps and screen capture to make about 7 pages of key parts of the trip (in and through Columbus; around Lima, OH; Ft. Wayne, IN, Valparaiso and the mass of traffic known as the tollways of Chicagoland). On the printed pages I wrote arrows and key turns with a sharpie, etc. She had so much material she couldn't fail... and she didn't.

In fact she made record time.. the Garmin said it would take 8 Hr 50 min to go the 481 miles. She made it with just one potty break and a gas stop (which also included something to eat) in just under 8 hours! So obviously, when we go together... I'm hold HER back!

So I'm bach'ing it for the next week, and she's having a great time with our granddaughter. Some women get all the breaks!
