Hi all,
Both of my side markers are out and they have been fitted with LED bulbs. Have both LED bulbs gone (which I find odd) or is there a seperate fuse (or connection plug) for the marker lights somewhere ?. I amsure they were ok before it went in for the swirl motor replacement but obviously cannot prove this theory.

Hey, guys :)

My car is booked in under warranty to have a look at a split fuel line.

Last week as I was sitting waiting on my wife with the engine running she came out and pointed at the front of my 300C CRD at 'water' pouring out from under it. The smell told me it was Diesel rather than water and in the 15-20 mins I waited my car had emptied nearly 1/4 of a tank onto the road. After about 40 mins Chrysler assist had came out and put on a temporary fix to get me on the road again. He told me this was unusaul no matter what the type of vehicle and that he hadn't seen a 300C before, which was encouraging.

The car is due in tomorrow to sort this properly and also for a warranty check. The diesel was literally pouring from the underneath of the car and I was wondering if any of our resident experts could tell me if there's anything I should be worried about by this or the diesel it expelled onto the engine block and fixings?

Before this happened I seemed able to get upward of 35mpg, now I struggle to hit 30mpg and the hose is still a little damp so I assume it still leaks a little.

Well, it finally happened two weeks ago and this is really the first chance between work and play I’ve been able to sit down and compose myself enough to think straight about how I feel about my new car.

About to take the plunge! (Multi-page thread 1 2 3 ... Last Page)

Following on from my earlier thread I got my wish, I purchased a Black 300C with the Startech grill and flew down a couple of weeks ago to pick it up and drive it home. The car I bought was a ‘08 57 plate with around 35k on the clock, a full service history and in excellent condition. In fact, I bought the car in the ‘For Sale’ section of this site from the ever helpful and friendly member stan99.

I enjoyed a nice meal in a lovely authentic Chinese restaurant in Manchester called Yang Sing and narrowly avoided the chicken feet Dim Sum by sheer luck! Afterward I wandered through Chinatown and had a quiet pint in Yates before heading back to my hotel in preparation of the day ahead. I had a sleepless night that could only be described as like a child awaiting the coming of Santa on Christmas morn.

I had agreed to meet Stan at a tram station near his home and when he pulled up there was a remarkable temptation to climb into the back to be chauffeured back to his home to conclude our business. Everything was as described and after a pleasant morning shooting the breeze I was soon on my way back North.

The first thing to impress on me was the massive road presence of my new machine and soon realised the brutal stance and intimidating looks translated well to the driving experience. I was a little afraid the drive would be unstable, indirect and to be honest like driving a couch, albeit a comfy one at that. On the contrary, there was little body roll the steering was intuitive and the ride while comfortable was a thoroughly enjoyable drive that I did not expect. I hoped for a car for the family and found a car for me hidden inside.

The equipment was impressive and on the M6 North I fiddled with every switch, toyed with every knob and dial and cranked the sound system to whatever radio stations I could find. The Cruise control soon became my best friend and I found myself able to sit at 70mph and immerse myself in the drive, the scenery and the thrill of driving my new car, or at least in between the frequent 50mph road works which seemed only to be placed there to allow me the chance to rapidly progress from 50-70 again and again and I sat enchanted at the newly reset MPG gauge teetering around the 38mpg mark.

The ‘distance to empty’ feature was slowly descending and soon my trepidation began to leave me hot under the collar as I realised the fabled motorway service station I was previously promised must have been down the other branch of the M65. At least I had 30 miles to empty and I could count on reaching a service station before that ran down to zero, surely? What I did not count on was that below 30mph it helpfully informs you that the fuel is low instead of guidance on how low it is.

The excellent climate control cooled my bluster and after a couple of handfuls of miles creeping along at 56mph I encountered a motorway service station that swapped nearly £90 of my money into a full tank of diesel and again off I went on the trek North. Without the worry of running out of fuel I had an excellent time driving toward home and could hardly contain myself as I got comfortable with my new beautiful beast and mile after mile passed quickly and I soon found myself well into Scotland and onto the familiar M8, until now my adventure had went well and I was looking forward to getting home to show the family their newest addition.

Sadly, out of nowhere a villain appeared.

The kind 4x4 driver in front of me considerately sat in front of me for a couple of miles absolutely determined that 68mph was a sufficiently safe driving speed. Unfortunately the driver of the white transit van behind me decided that wasn’t to his liking and in a daring manoeuvre undertook us both kicking up a half brick that kissed my windscreen with enough force to scare my windscreen into submission and I drove the rest of the way home contemplating explaining to my insurance company how these things can indeed happen at any time at all.

Other than that small inconvenience I got back home just in time to pick the wife and kids up and they were suitable impressed by the new car, though later my wife confessed that at the time she was a little concerned that she might not be able to drive a car of this size. Since then she’s changed her mind and now grabs the keys at every opportunity which is both a relief and a great pleasure to know she is enjoying it as much as I am.

There have been a couple of teething problems (I’m about to post about one of them!) but all in all I have to say how delighted I am with my 300C and feel that I will love this car for a long, long time to come. I couldn’t recommend this car enough to anyone who’ll listen and I’m pleasantly surprised by the amount of folk who are prepared to do just that. Several strangers have engaged me in conversation about the car and I witnessed a little lad about 8 falling over a small wall staining his neck round to watch me pass 

I think it’s safe to say I’m in Love!

It is very similar to the cut out that stops it starting if the low fuel warning message is on and the computer assumes there is not enough to get you to the filling station. ie fill up above the low warning level and it allows it to start.

All these worries could be academic though because it looks like the engine management system will gradually switch to snail mode unless I drive like a madman at least twice a week.

Anyway I'm still looking forward to getting it... I think!

I need to get a towbar fitted to it. Does anybody have any recommendations? I'd prefer a detachable or foldaway type if they are available.

Cheers.
