Multi-Displacement System is it working?

I recently purchased a used (certified) 2009 Chrysler 300 C, but I don't know if the Multi-Displacement System is working. When I test drove a 2006 I remember it saying on the instrument panel when the Multi-Displacement System was active. But it doesn't do that in my 2009… so I don't know if it's working/active.

Gas mileage figures might be able to tell you if it is working or not. Not a big jump but something if you do a lot of level cruising. Is there an Eco mode light or something like is available on 2012s? My Impala had it on the Driver's Information Center, it would either say V8 or V4.

I have an 06 C AWD and there's no icon or nothing displayed in the instrument cluster or EVIC that tells you the car is in MDS mode.
Even in the owners manual it says this is something that is automatically done with no driver input being necessary.
I believe 05-10 models are the same with the exception of a few cosmetic changes (HEMI C badging is on actual door instead of the front fender. 3rd brake light is in trunk lid instead of rear deck)
But mechanically, they are the same.

there is a mod you can do to alert you when its working...i had an email step by step from a hemi magnum owner il see if I can find

the jist of it anywho in the meantime youre taping into a specific wire coming out of your pcm...you run that too wherever through the firewall and connect it to an led..the idea is whenever it engages the led lights up.

The MDS indicator LED is connected to one of the MDS solenoid circuits. When the solenoid is energized by the MDS system the LED comes on to indicate that the MDS has engaged.

I have a DIY write-up that I prepared for my 2005, with a parts list and pictures. Whether the wire color codes are the same in 2008 I don't know.

Drop me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll attach it with my reply.

This is how it works on my '08 as well...however, I'd swear I saw "MDS" pop up in real small letters (on a top-left to bottom-right diagonal) next to the compass reading on the EVIC after upgrading the MyGIG software... It only happened once, though. Not sure why/how.
