We got home and turned car off, got back in 30 minutes later and turned key to start and acts like battery is low. Hooked up battery charger and charged for a while. Tried to start again and it just clicks a few times and the dash lights flicker funny. Put the charger on crank and same thing. Checked all the fuses and they all look good. I even disconnected the negative cable and touched it to the positive for one minute. No good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

YIKE'S Touching negative to positve was a bad move. One should never do this EVER !!! Since you got "nothing" meaning no spark, then I would say the battery has taken a dump. How old is the battery? If more than 5 years, you got you money's worth out of it so go buy a new one. Next time you think you have a "battery problem PLEASE use a volt meter to test. If and when you replace battery, have your car tested for any potential heavy drain when key is in the off position.

I don't know where you heard to touch battery cables together but that was a terrible idea! NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!

I guess you also check your gas tank with a lit match too!

The way I read it he disconnected the negative cable and touched it to the positive, which is the same thing as touching the positive and negative cables together with no battery in it.

This will not do anything bad at all!

By disconnecting the negative cable from the battery, there is no return to the battery at all, and the car at that point is not grounded at all.
