I'm currently having the same issue. When I'm at a high speed and it down shifts sometimes its hard and like you said feels like you been in a fender bender. Ill have to get the fluid changed and see if that helps
A few days ago my cars transmission started getting A lot worse it would let loose at random, it would be stuck in first gear and sometimes when it was up to running temp just disengage altogether and feel like it's in neutral in every gear. So I had my mechanic tow it to the shop. One of his mechanics said he thinks it is the transmission fluid filter he thinks it's cracked and air getting into the transmission. So if that is the case this part only about $30 - $40. I'll let you know when I get the car back how it goes.
Well I got the Car back from the shop and my transmission filter was cracked and was sucking air in. So at this point it's running well. It's running like a brand new car.
Today my tranny went out again i was slowing down for a red light I started hearing that whining sound that I did the first time this happened. then when the light went green I tried to drive forward but it felt like the car had half its power and would slip in and out of gear as I moved to the next red light. As the light 2nd light turned green it wouldn't go at all... I shut off the car and waited like 30 seconds then turned it back on, it still hesitated and felt like half the power. but I did make it the 3 blocks I needed to get to my driveway... any thoughts on what it might be?

Could be a number of things. Got to drop it out and have a look at her. Do you still have your warranty
Update: sadly my transmission has gone out completely, which will forced me to sell it and buy a different vehicle. I may end up with a chevy silverado. So this is my good bye to the 300 forums community. Thanks for the memories.
