Most of the time that my car downshifts I feel a clunk or what I can best describe as a bump from the back. Like someone rear ended me lightly. I feel like that's not a good thing. Any ideas?

Could be a few things...
Low tranny fluid
needs to be flushed
Has water mixed in
I would say bring it in and have the dealer flush it. How many miles do you have on her?

Some had said maybe engine or tranny mounts, but I have about 88000mi on it. It happens when the RPM's get higher from acceleration and then I let off the gas completely to let the car downshift it self... Then it feels like someone rear-ended me or something close to that.
Could be mounts too. I know in my camaro I could just use a prybar and check to see how much play I had but I have not had that problem with my 300. I would def have the dealer flush the tranny anyway as it should be done every 60k.

I'll have to try that... Maybe I'll do that this weekend. Cause next week i have to do a long drive (800mi). I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the advice.
I'm currently having the same issue. When I'm at a high speed and it down shifts sometimes its hard and like you said feels like you been in a fender bender. Ill have to get the fluid changed and see if that helps

Matt welcome to the fourm! I would give the same advice and say get the fluid flushed. How many miles do you have on your ride.
That's good that it looks clean but its all about the upkeep! As posted before the tranny should be flushed every 60k and if its been driven hard its pry about due. Did you get an extended warrenty or have a lemon law there? Maybe you could get this done at no or low cost.
