Hood Alignment?

Hey Folks,

I'm new to the forums here and purchased a new 2012 300C, Tungsten Metallic with a black interior. I love the way it drives and am enjoying the 5.7 Hemi power. I do have a couple issues I am trying to sort out with the dealer however.

I have noticed the headlights are fogging in the evening when the temps cool down. I have seen other threads here about this but no one seems to have come up with a definite solution. I've got the dealer checking about any bulletins or news on these dust covers that have been mentioned here.

The other issue I've noticed involves the hood and the way it aligns with the fenders. There are posts here that are similar to my observation but not quite the same. If I view the gap line between the top of the fender and the edge of the hood while standing by the wheel on the opposite side of the car it is apparent that the edge of the hood is below the fender line rather than being flush. The problem is, it can't be adjust up to meet the fender because it is only lower in the middle. Near the front headlight assy and at the back near the hinge and A-pillar are flush and in line. So there is only a problem above the wheels. I am attaching photos of this to try and elucidate the misalignment. My main question is, are others noticing this on their cars? I looked at other 300s on the dealer lot but it looked like maybe some are better than others. I can't imagine what the fix would be if this is indeed a manufacturing defect.

Welcome to the forums. Congrats on the new ride.

Can't help you with the headlight problem on the Gen II's, but I have seen a few people with the issue... so you're not alone.

And as far as the hood - that can't be right!!!! This is a brand new purchase? I'd be back at the dealer so fast demanding a resolution - don't wait. Start that ball rolling now. And you say you noticed this on other cars? I'm very interested to hear if other Gen II owners have this issue.

I have the same issue hood alignment issue on my Tungsten 2011 300c (Built May 11). My head lights were replaced due to condensation (warranty). But I have not brought up the hood alignment issue. Were you able to get the alignment issue solved?

I have not gotten any resolution to either the hood misalignment or the headlight condensation. I have not had an issue with the headlight moisture recently, possibly due to the winter months and the weather not being hot or humid. As for the hood, when I first brought it up to the dealer, the gentleman from the service dept said he knew what I was talking about but said I wouldn't go there if I were you. Saying in so many words I guess that it would be way more trouble to address than it is worth. I haven't brought it up again yet. I have visited a chrysler dealer and took an impromptu survey of 300s sitting on the lot. All of them had a misalignment to one degree or another. The fact that yours is a 2011 and mine is a 2012 concerns me since it indicates that Chrysler probably doesn't see it as a problem.

Thanks, I to have noticed the hood alignment issue on the following model years 2011, 2012, 2013. I'm curious to what my dealers response is regarding the hood so I will bring it up and post the results. Again my headlight condensation issue was taken care of by the warranty, make sure you take care of that before your warranty runs out (not sure if the head lights are vented or sealed, but there expensive).
