Transmission Leak - the common one I think

Hey all,

Putting the snows on today and the tech comes out to tell me that the transmission is leaking from what he thought was the pan. We looked at it a bit further and it looks like it could be leaking from the electrical connector, after doing some research this seems to be a common problem.

Now I work at a GM dealer, therefore I get my car worked on there as I trust the guys in the back(and get a deal ). I called around a few Chrysler dealers and to my suprise this is not something they know of other than reading off the TSB.

Anyway so the car is going to be grounded until I can get this fixed later on in the week because I dont know how much fluid is gone.

So to save me some money, as the boys are doing there discovery to find out what the problem is I was wondering if anyone knows what parts would be needed as this would not be something they would have in stock. I read some people do the gaskets and some people just replace the whole electrical connector. What is the best way to go? and if you know could you tell me what parts will be needed?

Thanks a ton.

You're welcome. It is a quick procedure and the parts cost is minimal.

I think I'm selling what you need in the F/S section right now - FISCH'S CRAZY MEGA GARAGE SALE (pic heavy!!!)

I had the same leak a year ago. I accidentally ordered two pairs of transmission pan gasket & transmission harness plug (I thought the order didn't process, so I clicked again - you know how that goes). Let me know if you need either or both.

Good luck with the fix

For those of you that can't get the screw to thread when installing the piece.... some gentle love from a rubber mallet makes it click into place.

I bought plug with O rings at a Mercedes dealership. Was actually cheaper than the Chrysler dealership.
