V1 install goes wrong - couldn't ground it or power it

I went with what I have done in the past and ripped out the rear of my cigarette compartment to install my v1 power wire.

There are a red, black and yellow with blue stripe wires plugged into it. I tried the red wire first and used my clip to tap into it. I then tried to ground it by putting the black wire into the screw that the console attaches to ashtray. Metal screw to metal clip but attached to plastic. Does not work!

So I get my tester and see that I get a read off the yellow and blue wire. Tap that one and try holding the ground to metal screw...nothing

So I feel that it's my ground wire but I could not find anywhere - anywhere! To ground the dam thing correctly. Does anyone have some guidance here. The stupid fuse box is in the trunk and I can't go that route and I don't like the mirror housing bc I have had a short before bc of that.....
Guidance is appreciated here..

I think I was speaking in tongues in that rant about my install issues. I figured out what to do.

1st the red wire is the power wire that plugs into the rear pin of the cigarette lighter. The yellow with blue stripe wire is the illumination wire and works only when the lights are on - hence my issues because I was installing inside my garage and the lights would come on.

Grounding it was simple after I realized it was an issue for circuit. I found a bolt that had the top end of a screw protruding from it and found a nut to sandwich the ground wire. Thing of beauty now.

Buried all my wires and presto.

Word to the wise here...I have seen installs that use mirror or sunroof to find power for their install. Be very careful that you choose the right wire to tap and you don't damage anything up there. I had a damaged sunroof wire that kept an open circuit in my car. Went through 3 batteries and an alternator on my old e55. $2,500 later the tech found the previous owner ripped out his hard wire connection and damaged the wires....wow it sucked big time.
