Trunk shocks on 2005...

Idk mine does the same since ive had it. You want that cadilac kind of trunk right? Were it shuts real smooth

Well... I am not asking for it to close like my old Buick's did... Just let them latch shut and they suck down tight themselves.
I just think there should be some sort of "safety" maybe in there? Meaning that from fully open if I just touch it and get it started in the downward motion... It literally slams shut.. Really hard. Just doesn't seem normal.
I started the thread asking because it does seem normal opening and remaining open its the point from fully open to closed that seems unsafe.

I know what u mean. I hold mine about 3 inches or so before closing and just let the trunk fall to completely shut. If u change the shocks let us know the difference

Mine has caught me be surprise-shutting on my head-I I dot have it ALL THE WAY UP. Damn!! I will get some new ones on and see what it does.

I replaced the trunk and hood "struts" last year. I have to pull my trunk down about 6" before it falls and closes. It closes hard. The hood struts were dangerous and I got hit a few times before I wised up.

Even after replacing the shocks it still closes hard? Slams?
Now I am starting to think that maybe there is nothing wrong with mine....

Did that fix it then?? Or did it not do anything for helping close more slowly? I don't want to waste the dollars....

I got mine from a company caled Strutwise for my hood there more expensive and he will custom make them for you, got mine in stainless ,my hood wieghs more than a stock one and would not stay up.

Did they do your trunk shocks as well? How does your trunk close exactly? I am seriously getting mixed ideas.
If I have mine open fully.. And just nudge it.. It will slam shut.. LOUD.
Not smooth... Not easy. Slam.
I now walk it down to about 6 inches from the latch and let it go.

Face it, the car is a 2005 and what you are experiencing is not normal. Replace them before you get hurt.
