I'd say have the service done on the tranny and go give it a good drive to really heat it up and see what happens.
My two lurching issues were separate. The tranny service definitely fixed my first lurch issue and the second lurch issue was more due to the fact that I had older software on my tuner...there was an update for it that "smoothed" out the mds issue, but I never downloaded it. I just turned off the mds instead.
Thanks man! Unfortunately, i can't get the car to the dealer until thursday. Do you think that this issue can damage the car? I need to use it for work and i can't seem to get it to the dealer earlier then thursday. I've actually had this issue for a while but in the beginning i tought that the CC simply not was smooth and needed to accelarate and brake like that.
There is also another issue. The service manual tells me to change the tranny fluid the first time at 60k miles. My car is only at 30k miles. Why do we have to flush it earlier then recomended?
Also, in Sweden (this is a European car) this oil and filter change will cost me about 540 USD. I also know that my dealer will probably not recommend it. He will not understand why i would like to do it way earlier then Chrysler recommends, and he does have a point.
If it really is an MDS issue, you're not doing any damage to the car by driving it. There is a simple LED installation that will tell you when MDS is active for your 2005. A temporary test install would take you maybe 20 minutes at most. If the problem coincides with MDS activity you're OK.

And if it's not MDS? Can it then damage my vehicle? My dealer told me that i didn't need to worry since the car will give me warnings if something is wrong. If the tranny's detects severe failure it will throw a check engine light and also go into failsafe mode.
I took it for a spin today and i can't say that i noticed the jerk when driving 30-40 MPH. Itt becomes noticable at 50 MPH and higher speeds (i think) but somehow get's less noticable around 80 MPH.
The fifth speed when in "D" is overdrive. By selecting "4" the tranny uses just first through fourth gears where MDS is not functional. Of course your mileage will suffer on two accounts: 1) fourth gear revs higher than fifth for a given speed, and 2) all eight cylinders are active.

Thanks for the info.
I really had no idea. It makes sense. I drive in 4th, sometimes 3rd around town anyway.
It was just interesting to see that posted.
Not yet. I will leave the car to the dealer tomorrow. They will check the tranny fluid, check for error codes and if there are any updates that can be applied. I will get back in this thread on friday.
