what is this hose?

I was changing plugs and wires on my 2005 300C with 150,000 miles on it and this hose is very brittle and is splitting at the end where it connects to the manifold. does anyone know what this hose is and the canister it appears to be connected to?

It is located on the passenger side of the car and is facing Left (rear) to Right (front).
it also appears to have a cap that lets you fill it with something, but not sure what and is super hard to open, so I didn't.

thanks,

That is your PCV valve. The top tab in the middle is your indicator of whether or not you have turned it counter clockwise far enough to release the 3 locking tabs to remove the valve.

The hose feeds the vapors from the crankcase vent on the cylinder head.

^^^ I concur. Good place for a catch can I'd say.

But what are all of the blue cables in your pic?? Is that an '05 thing? I'm guessing they moved dist power cables elsewhere in newer models. ?

WHAT!
Redesigned? What the hell!
That is the only thing I absolutely hate about this car is the cobbled up mess of spark plug wires when I changed mine and I just HAD to pick the year BEFORE the redesign!
Go figure!
I keep my engine cover just so I don't have to see those wires when I open my hood.....

Yep... Had I known then what I know now... I would be doing that kind of stuff.
I bought my car... Was looking for a GTO...knew nothing about these cars.
Best decision.. So far... I have made.

Smile Thanks!

LOL...You guys are funny!

Thanks for the reply and definition of what that is.

I too was shocked to see the plug wires myself since most pictures out there show just the dual coil/plug configuration, so a second trip to NAPA was in store since this was the first time I've done this myself. My buddy/mechanic moved out of state, soooo, had to bust out the trusty old tool chest and (iPad) to open 300C Forums.com and figure out how to work on these modern cars. My experience has been on pre-74 Mopar's mostly...so this stuff is a little intimidating.

great site, helpful tips and write ups on some of this basic maintenance stuff.
Appreciate it very much.
thanks,
