P0406 -Exhaust gas recirculation HELP

p0406-exhaust gas recirculation sensor A circuit high.

Awww man, I was hoping this wouldnt start happening.

Hey all, after driving home in the rain lastnight this code came up. I know it has to do with the EGR valve. So my question is can I leave this and hope it will go away? is this hurting the car? and if I do have to change it is it easy and does anyone have a picture of what Im removing on the 5.7.

Thanks a bunch.

You think if I clean the EGR with carb cleaner that would work. Or am I better off just replacing it.

You can try cleaning it first. If that don't work (and don't forget to clear the code as well), then a replacement is in order.

Do you have a programmer? Those will clear a code.

If not, many auto parts stores have a code reader that can clear it.

Or, pull the negative terminal on your battery for 30 minutes.

Easy was definitely an understatement ... the one bolt was an sob and just wouldn't crack loose. But with a lot of patience and a bit of blood.... its all finished.

Really would have been easy except for that one bolt.

Car seems to run much smoother now

Thanks all.
