I received my two yesterday and swapped the chip with no issue. I went to three places to get the key cut any they will not cut them. So I will have to hit up the local locksmith to see if he can cut them.
I ordered mine. It came from Georgia and it got to ke in Wisconsin in two days. I too went to several business to get mine cut. I even went to a dealership and they couldn't cut it. The last place that I found to do it was a local small store a Ace hardware. It was $2.85 to do.
I went to try it and I just used the blade, just the cut key uninstalled in the flip fob and it fired right up. I then left my old fob in the house far away from the new blade so the chip was nowhere in range and tried to start it again with just the new cut key alone uninstalled in the fob and it started right up again. So in other words it seems as if I don't need a chip to start mine, weird. I can just have any key cut and it will work.
I put it in the new fob and it was kind of a pain in the ass to wind the spring to make it "flip" out properly but I finally got it after several tries of winding it and getting it put together so it would flip out when pushing the button. But it worked flawlessly once I got it all slapped together. Now I may have to order another for my wife.
Also I went and tried my oldn empty key fob with tue guts already removed and again it fired my car right up and it was just the empty fob.

Did this happen to anyone else?

After I had mine cut, I went out to the car and tried it.
It started, ran for like 3 seconds and then shut off.
Once I put the key into the housing with the circuit board - then it would keep running.

It will work for a few mins... But if you had left it running you would soon find out that it will die the next time they try and communicate and don't get a match. In about 3-4 mins...
