P0300 Engine Trouble Code

Has anyone found out what this code really means and how to diagnose/fix the issue. I know it is "Random Cylider Misfire Detected" but, without more information, where do you start when diagnosing/fixing the problem? I have this code pop two days ago, but did NOT have my check engine light come on. Car idled rough intermittently, and i checked trouble codes with my predator and it showed a P0300. I ordered new spark plugs to put in (was going to do those soon anyway) but wanted to see if there is any other advice for finding the actual culprit for the code. Thanks.

Looks like there could be a ton of reasons for this code. Which means a big checklist as well.

Here's the dealer service manual for P0300.... Good luck

I got this code after running E3 plugs for 5 years. Swapped out for OEM Champions and all is good.

BTW, the E3's were not installed properly by the dealer (who did the install) but ran decent for 5 years then one day misfire code!

OEM in SRT8 is a fancy schmancy Platinum/Iridium hybrid plug that is virtually permanent. Factory replacement is 100k or so recommended interval.

It is extremely unlikely that this issue is plug related. Could be many things from bad fuel all the way to bad coils, and a dozen other things. Too many to list.

I would clear the code and drive it. If it reappears then worry.

Unless I was near 100K miles I would suspect the spark plugs, especially a random misfire'
I'd try a bottle or two of a fuel injector cleaner first.

i cleared the code and it has not reappeared...after 2 days of driving. Also, it has not idled rough since i cleared it either. I ran a bottle of seafoam in the gas tank,a nd plan to do one for the crankcase oil before i do an oil change next week. i got a great deal on the spark plugs less than $120 for all 16 straight from MOPAR. I also ordered a new PCV valve. Ive heard those are usually designed to be replaced around 65-75k miles. an $8 part, so no big deal there. As always, i really appreciate everyone's input. i have never found a place where people are willing to share information and experciences so freely. thanks again.
