It was 70-degrees today here in Philly-land, so I gave DESIREE a wash and vacuum, cleaned the leaf debris out of the cowl air intake and cabin filter, and re-installed my air flow restrictor in front of the radiator to prevent unnecessary CEL for DTC P0128 (thermostat rationality) that might pop up in cold weather.

Winter arrives tomorrow!

So far it seems to work fine earlier while I was driving but only reason why I really bought it was to see what all the fuss is about radar detectors.

I have been driving for around 6 years and in that time I have only been pulled over twice so I use my common sense and eye sight as my radar detector even when I am having a bit of fun.

Here are some crappy cell phone pictures though
Cobra detectors are pointless???? Certainly saved my ass MANY times!!!! Sure, they're are some really nice detectors on the market... I'd like to get a V1 with a stealth install one day. But for now I have a Cobra XRS 9990... and it has never failed me. (knock on wood) I have also added a Cobra SL3, which is a red light/speed camera/trap thing. Also has saved my ass. They easily have paid for themselves.

In the end, a lot of cops use laser now and if your laser band goes off it just means get your wallet out. Really no stopping that, so you can never completely count on a detector. But more cops than you think are still on K and Ka bands. Or at least near me that is.

And these aren't the same detectors as I had back in high school - I now get notifications for all emergency vehicles near me (which has also saved my ass when my music is turned up), railroad crossings, red led cameras, known speed traps, speed cameras, timed highways, etc... oh yeah, not to mention it's primary function of radar/laser detecting. So no, they are certainly not a waste of money. End rant. I think you'll be happy with your purchase.

I hate wires too. Much cleaner to tap the power into your rearview mirror for window mounts and down through the console for dash mounts. I have my XRS 9990, along with a driving camera, tapped into my rearview mirror, and the SL3 device is tapped into my cigarette lighter down through the dash... so everything simply powers up and down upon ignition and no wires are visible...

One last thought for you Oscar - paint that white thing in your window!!!!! Looks like the IPASS I used to have in my car when I was in Chicago. They tell you not to paint or obstruct them in anyway, but I painted mine (brilliant black of course ) and it always functioned perfectly, even in the high speed lanes. But remember to tape off the barcode and serial number before you paint - you might need those!

What kind of dash kit? And how do you think it looks against the stock tortoise shell? I know it's always hard to get a true pic of dash kits. Always interested in finding a good tortoise shell match.

Looks good.

Dude, search for that thread titled "do you let other people drive your car?" or something like that - it never ends good. Consider yourself lucky so far.

EDIT: I guess I might as well say what I did to my car today while I'm chiming in on others.... well, did nothing to it today. BUT, I did start cleaning out the garage and foresee a huge For Sale thread coming soon... need to clear out some stuff

So far mine has been detecting most cops but after reading more info on detectors, I think I am going to go with an Escort 9500ix once I can find a good deal on one so I will probably need your advice on how to wire my detector through the rear view mirror since I can't stand the cord hanging in front of my face lol

As for my toll tag, I had completely forgotten that I had it there! lol

Been running 9500iX for over two years now...you will love it. Escort makes a direct wire kit for it as well; no wires is the way to go.

Just got my oil change on my SRT - $120!!! I go to the same spot and it continues to go up. He stated price of oil is higher! no doubt, but man, thankfully I do not get an oil change every month.

Harold, if you don't want to change it yourself, save some money and buy the oil elsewhere. I've been getting full synthetic from Wally World for about $22/5 qts. Then you just pay for their labor.
