Kicker sub enclosure

Just FYI. I plan to mod it at some point so that I can open it.

Post an update on that. I would love to have 2 12's & my trunk space, but I need to be able to open the cover.

It's EASY to have two 12's in the trunk and still be able to open the floor board.

Look at the pictures of my self-install in my first Chrysler300.



All I did was use a metal anchor screwed into the floor to hold the box back.
I screwed the amp and capacitor directly to the box to make the box an easily removable unit.

The way I set it up gave me usable space. Thing is, what I'd REALLY LIKE is a kicker 10" enclosure for both sides of the trunk walls. It is so ridiculous the KICKER sub only came for the driver's side while the BEATS sub comes for the passenger side of the 2012.

I will inquire about the floor board opening before I purchase. Good thing is I found both sides on ebay. I am not even sure if the lack of floor board opening would keep me from buying, I'd just have to mount them with easy release upon emergency's..

Well, it's at an angle, so at the the farthest edge it's about 5" out over the floorboard from the side. So if you would want the floorboard to open all of the way out, it would require at least a 5" section on the side to flip over somehow.

I should note though, I'm having second thoughts about doing that. Simply because I had to pull my sub out this weekend and I realized it wasn't bad at all. About 30 seconds of spinning the barrel nut, wiggled it out and then pulled the banana plug. One minute job. Toughest part was just pulling the velcro on the bottom.

And I rarely need to open the floorboard. Therefore I'm wondering if this is still even something I need to do anymore.

Don't know if you checked my thread, but what I did was JB Weld a metal plate with a hole to the back of the enclosure / added a bolt through the side wall / slipped it through and secured it with a barrel nut - so no tools needed to remove it...

$300 for a pair shipped to the door is a steal. I was rolling the dice when I bought my left side one because $150 seemed cheap - but as I've said, I'm very happy with it. Might add the right side at some point.

Now that we've got the Jaguar, I might get these enclosures, drop subs into em and use the 300 as a show car. My uncle wants me to do that, but aside from getting the little trophies I see no point.

Same link as Fisch posted Normgarry.. I'm still tossing around the idea of 2 12's.. But you are right Fisch, the only time I've needed to get under the floor have been only to clean.. I will bookmark your thread for when I make my purchase.
