Exclamation CAW Picks Ford as Canadian Strike Target

In a surprise move, Canadian Auto Workers union boss, Buzz Hargrove announced today that Ford Canada will be the target of a strike, should contract talks fail.

It was generally assumed that the high flying Chrysler corporation was going to be the strike target.

This is good news for all those waiting for custom ordered LX vehicles from DC, which are built at the Brampton, Ontario plant.

It may just also be bad news too.

The "Buzz" from Buzz Hargrove is Ford is the company at which a strike is least likely, while warning that a strike impacting thousands of DaimlerChrysler workers is “inevitable,” and possible for General Motors employees.

There are some posts at the Brampton Forum indicating this as well.

Hmm, thanks for the link, Rambit.

I just heard the news clip driving into work this am.

Looks like Chrysler's not off the hook yet.

I don't care 'cause I got mine. In fact, if DC stopped production for a time, my wheels would become even more rare. Woo Hoo.

Hehehe...the sooner they strike, the better. I expect mine to be built right after Christmas, so if they wanna get all uppity, do it now, so it can be over with before the lakes freeze over!

I was over at the Brampton forum this morning & I can tell you they're not happy at all. Most comments are in favour of a strike. We'll soon know in less than a week if they do or not.
