Any gain from CAI's other then sound

I have been reading on the LX Fourm as well as on here. There seem to be conflicting reports on what gains people are getting from their CAI's. I just recently purchased the Mopar CAI and I feel like their is an improvent in Throttle response, sound. The Mopar site states up to 8 hp increase with their Cold Air Intake, and I definitely feel a diffrence, maybe it is just trying to justify my purchase :-). I had an opportunity to go against another 300C to try to see if their was any difference. So a friend of mine with a stock 300C and mine with the Mopar CAI in 3 runs, I was able to out acclerate him and take the lead each time and all else being about as equal as can be both gas tanks at half AC/Off etc, he was not able to catch me, and I was actually able to pull away from him. So my question is there actual horespower gain or from the improved throttle response am I able to pull away faster now. This is my first CAI so I am open to all suggestions and theories.

Thanks

This is on about 6 threads now. Everybody wants these things.

Throttle response is 100% better

Maybe an 8% HP gain, but yet to see any dyno proof-{Probably works to improve HP in conjunction with an exhaust system (Maganlfows, etc)

GROWL is worth the price for me. at half and WOT it sounds really nice, and it turns heads.

Mine is the MOPAR CAI (see below)

when you first start the car there isnt any growl. its when you step on the gas and open her up that you hear the HEMI talking to ya.

Take your $250 and use it on an exhaust system if you want to hear your hemi. The CAI's add nothing to torque or horsepower figures and this has been proven time and time again. No offense to the believers, but I beleive the throttle response feeling is a Placebo effect so to speak.

I'll be saving my cash for a Programmer and hope that the programmers will give us an ability to tune for a CAI. Perhaps then we can extract some HP from these intakes.

Placebo ???

There is DEFINITELY a difference. I noticed it right off, first time out.

Like I said, not sure about the horespower, but I am sure about the throttle kick.

I am removing my Volant, a great product and wonderful intake 4 barrel whoosh under throttle. I do not feel any difference from stock though I thought I did at first, drove a buddies stocker and it felt the same. I am going back to stock because that wonderful intake roar is getting long in the tooth, the newness has worn off, the thrill is gone. Fortunately the same is not true for the car, just as thrilling after 15 months as when new.

kobe8,
Now the real test is to switch intakes and run again. If he wins, it works, if you, it doesn't, or if it is closer, maybe it works just a little. Should take less than 1/2 hour to change each one. I'd be interested to know how that comes out. May want to switch the drivers too....you drive his, he drives yours.

this would be a great idea by the way........it could be the CAI, or your car could just be a little stronger than his. A dyno would be the surefire test, but swapping the intake would be faster and cheaper..........
