Exclamation Having Problems With Socal Motorsports - Please Help

Hey everyone,

I am having a communications problem with Socal motorsports in regards to an order I was charged for over a month ago. Maybe you guys can somehow help me out, here goes:

In the month of August, I called Tony from Socal Motorsports inquiring about a price for the Borla 140125 exhaust system, before Tony could get back to me with the quotation I decided to get the Volant Intake at the same time from them so I could save a bit in shipping for future. Since I am in Canada, I knew the shipping fee would be higher but nonetheless Tony quoted me a very fair price to which I agreed and decided to proceed with the order. A very close friend of mine who is also a member of this forum (HEMI_MAN) decided to buy the same set as me, the only problem was that I was in Vancouver and he lives in Montreal so we knew that shipping for him would be higher since the distance between California and Montreal is greater than of California and Vancouver.

I contacted Tony again, he said he could make mine a bit better deal because we were taking two complete sets Exhaust + Intake. Tony however did mention that he will only charge us for the orders if and only if he can speak to his partner John and they can contact their good friend over at FedEX to get a very good rate on the International shipments. Tony said they couldn't use their UPS account because the freight rate would be really high since they do not have a discount to Canada. I agreed and said we would wait to hear from him.

Two days went by, no sign from Tony. I then IM'd John on AOL and he said Tony had been away for a few days although he did speak to his friend over at FedEX and that everything would be fine. John also mentioned to me that the Borla 140125 is on backorder for another 3 weeks. Me and my friend agreed that we would place a pre-order for the two sets. Meanwhile, Tony came back and said that if he charged us now he could put aside the Volant's for us while the exhausts come or else he may be sold out of Volant's in 3 weeks and those would go on backorder which would then cause our shipment to be delayed even further. I said ok charge our cards now we have no problem with that.

Both my friend and I called Tony seperately on his 805-233-2818 number and gave him our credit card info. Tony then proceeded to send us proforma invoices via e-mail and charged our credit cards. From that day I kept in touch with Tony on a regular basis and he was always so kind to help me out and let me know that there were still some delays. So at one point Tony said Borla told him it would take another 4 weeks extra on top of the time we had already waited, so then he said we have the 140112 in stock and would you like that instead. I agreed but told him to keep my friends still on back order as he still wanted the 125. Tony said ok and said it would ship within 48 hours. Then I tried to contact Tony 3-4 days later, he said it couldn't be shipped because John's wife had a baby the day it was going to be sent so he was at the hospital with her, which I totally understand and I said no problem send him my congratulations.

I waited another 3 days then I messaged Tony again, he said everything was packaged and ready and John was sending it off today. So I waited for a tracking number, no luck. I spoke to Tony practically everyday for a week after that and he kept saying yes its sent and you'll have the tracking# within half an hour, but yet nothing came. I had to leave to Boston the following week for a conference and told him that if its not shipped, tell me the truth because I don't want it to show up here while I am out of town, he then confessed and said that it wasn't sent but as soon as I had returned from Boston to give him a call so he can ship it. I said ok and was relieved... a bit.

I called him two days before leaving Boston since I know transit time from Cali to Vancouver would be atleast 5 business days. I asked him to ship, he said no problem I will have it sent within 24 hrs. I came back from Boston over two weeks ago and I am still getting the run around. I message John on IM he never responds, I message Tony and he never responds. I see both of them signing on and off, going on away and returning, but they never care to answer me. I tried calling several times a day, no answer. I left voice mails, no call back.

I decided to order from Socal because I heard good things about them from members of this forum. I also found in Tony a good gentleman who was always providing me good assistance and good prices, but what good is all that if for over 2 weeks they are avoiding me?

Till now they have not shipped the item, the last I heard was the fedex guy had gone on vacation or the fedex guy is too busy. I can't depend on a fedex guy for my one thousand dollar order, if I depended on one human I would go grey hair by the time I see that Borla and Volant.

I have not contacted my credit card company to file a dispute nor have I posted this situation anywhere until now. I am sure most people would have filed for a chargeback by now, I know how this works I too run a on-line business. I do not want to resort to that because I know they are a legitimate company, they do lots of business on eBay and since I am in online business also I know how it feels to have negative comments posted all over the internet for a situation beyond your control, but why would they treat me like this that I do not know. I even told them once I get this I want to order the performance chip and I have friends who want some items and they were more than happy to want to serve me again.

Oh and I forgot to mention above, the last I spoke to Tony was about two weeks ago, Tony had given me a insurance number and item number for the Volant which he said John shipped by USPS Priority, I tried tracking it wherever I call they tell me this item got scanned at the post office and never left the United States, I even called the p.o. John left it at and they say they have no record. I don't understand anything anymore, John also gave me a fedex tracking number about a week ago as he claimed he shipped the Borla and that till now is invalid in the fedex system.

Tracking number I got for volant: CP380586015US (USPS - To be delivered by CanadaPost)
Tracking number I got for the Borla: 852179483871 (Fedex)

If you track those items, you will notice the USPS item never shows an export scan from the country, and the fedex item just pops up as invalid.

Please give me some advice, I thank you very much in advance for taking the time to read this. I hope if Tony and John read this they will decide to finally either get my the stuff ASAP or just cancel my order and refund my credit card.

Sincerely,
Jas M.

Hope This Helps

After Writting Your Letter I Believe It's Time To Contact Your Credit Card Company And Tell Them You Never Recieved The Items. You Only Have 90 Day To Do It In.

There are always two sides to a story, so I won't comment on the situation, other than it sounds like you've been very reasonable, and I hope this situation works out for you.

I am surprised that you are having trouble with SoCal Motorsports - I have found them to be great to deal with. Tony and John . . . take care of this guys.

If all else fails, and I would be surprised if it came to that, you can always dispute the charge with your credit card company. I had to do that on a TByrne Motorsports transaction to get a full refund that I was owed . . . it works.

Good luck. I am sure Tony and John will fix things.

Thanks to those who replied for this thread. I was intending on calling Visa today to initiate a chargeback against SoCal Motorsports but lucky enough for Socal I didn't and my Volant intake arrived. Now I am just waiting for the Borla, Fedex did confirm that the tracking number is invalid and that item had never been picked up by them. I spoke to Tony today and he assured me an answer by the end of today, that didn't happen but I hope for some good news tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Hello Jaz,

We do thank you for your purchase. There have been several issues to come to my attention regarding the lack of information or misinforming with Tony. Tony no longer is associated with SoCal Motorsports in any capacity. We strive to make sure customers of SoCal Motorsports receive accurate and timely updates on their purchases.

Rest assured I now have a keen eye on the goings on on 300cforums.com and am making it a point to personally take care of all members who choose to go with SoCal Motorsports.

Thank you for your time and purchase Jaz.

John

Problems not withstanding... that there is a man that knows his business and takes care of his customers..... since I am in the market for some 300 parts, this will be the first company i check out.

Sometimes people don't realize that they are not the only customer a company has and the people in that organization are trying to juggle all their customers, vendors, distributors etc etc etc and still provide the end customer with the best buying experience they can....

It is nice to see the "owner" or "manager" of a company respond to a customer not only one on one but here in a public forum as well. Makes me want to do business with them...

Mr. iNCREDIBLE,

Your kinds words are appreciated. We sponsor several sites, and when information isn't passed onto customers accurately, or in a timely fashion threads like this appear. I want to make sure that everyone realizes that my company is about education and service. First inform the customer on the products they are inquiring about, and then if/when they choose to purchase from SoCal Motorsports make sure the customer receives the most complete customer service possible (before/during/after) the transaction.

Talk to you all soon,

John
