Talking Had my 300 detailed this morning for the first time

Hello Gang,

I had my 300 detailed for the first time today. I had the car washed and hand waxed with 2 coats of wax to get the car ready for the wintertime. I also used Rain-X on all the windows to help out when it rains to improve visibility. I had the local car wash/detail shop do the work, and it looks great! I asked about the claybar, and the detailer that worked on my car said that the paint is still in excellent shape. (No Clay needed at this time) He hand-buffed the car (no machine, just normal elbow grease!) After the winter weather is over, I'll have it done again to get all the winter garbage off the car.

I take the car to a soft cloth car wash and so far I have had no problems with the finish or the work that they do. I usually get the step up from the base wash, which includes the 'spray on' wax and underbody cleaning. The mats get cleaned and shampooed and the tires get the Armor-All treatment. The car still looks like it did when it came off the lot.

It looks real pretty, Brian

If you want to forget about it for 6 months, use Gary's sealant. The wax will only last for about 30 days. It won't get you through the winter. See Gary Kouba's ad in the forums. (TurbomanGT)

Thanks for the kind words, Chasb! That picture is of the car the day after I brought her home from the dealer. On a nice day, I'll try and post some pics of the car currently.

Wax (depending on which wax of course) can last longer than 30 days, much longer. It can also last much shorter. Depends on what wax you use.

Marlinspike,

You are right there. The detailer used a liquid wax made by Dupont on the car today. Not sure of the name, but according to him it is alot better than the paste cleaner waxes. (Just his .02)

Better than cleaner waxes no doubt...better than paste...well with longevity maybe, I don't know I haven't tried that one. I don't totally doubt it simply because it seems the more carnauba the lower the longevity, so a liquid may in fact have good longevity. IMHO, the best for longevity (outside of a sealant) is One Grand Blitz Wax. Makes a pretty good shine too.

Your vehicle looks real good! It's hard to believe people are already preparing their cars for winter! It's still summer around here and the leaves are only thinking about changing to red or amber.
