GasGunR, over at LXForums just posted up this disturbing news about our friend at Brampton Assembly, known as Speckler.
For the past year, Speckler has helped keep forum members up to date on the build status of their LX cars - providing an invaluable service that neither the dealers or DCX could do with any consistancy or accuracy.
If he has been fired, what do you think about this turn of events?
Quote:
Just got an email from him and the site is down, (www.mylxinfo.com).
Anyone know? I hope he was kidding, but since the site is down too, I think he may be serious.
Thanks,
Don

IMO speckler not only provided a service for us, but for DCX as well... if they don't think so, all they need do is read all the member's posts about their experiences with DCX so-called "customer service", which provides more of a disservice by disconnected telephone operators... then compare those posts with the members who actually DID receive a REAL service from this great guy, who actually cares about what he does and those for whom he does it! If DCX were smart, they'd actually get behind him and support the effort... the PR value would be off the charts and they'd be providing a service I don't believe any other mfr. provides.
I'm sure they think they have their reasons, but employees that care that much about what they do are a rare find and should be cherished, not perished !
I feel terrible for him. He helped me out on several occasions. Is there anything we can do. Perhaps an email campaign to the right internal individuals at the top may help? Thoughts?

I second the motion!!
But then we are assuming this was the reason he was fired. Let us know when more info is available and we'll fire up the execs inboxes at brampton!!

XCITsNU, the Admins across the boards are talking about this; approach TBD.
CUEBALL, Speckler's post confirmed the news and cited DCX's reasons behind his termination at lxforums, NR and I are hesitant to quote or copy that info here without his permission and he has not yet confirmed we may do so.
Posting support here will help immensely, as we know DCX is lurking... and just a teensy little reminder that Ralph Gilles is a member here and was posting back in May under the username RG61
So, from what I understand, Speckler was charging money for corporate information that Chrysler would not release? I did a quick search, and from what I can tell, he often helped members of this forum learn where their car was in the assembly process. Okay, that's neat, but what was he supposed to be doing with his time? I'd hate to know that something on my car was overlooked while he was checking to see if your dashboard was installed yet.
But, I'm new to this saga. Hopefully someone could more clearly outline for those of us not entirely in-the-know why we should flood DCX's executives' inboxes with mail in support of Speckler.
I just tried to access mylxinfo.com, from my favorites list, and get page unavailable message. could DCX have shut the page down??? can anyone else get in?
My guess is the most effective action we could take is a letter-writing campaign to top Chrysler execs. Individualized letters with how Speckler helped our buying experience would be most helpful, rather than a form letter. If we can get copies to Speckler's union rep, that will probably be helpful, too. Include your VIN# so they don't think it's a bunch of Speckler's relatives doing this.
The service that Speckler provided to people who BOUGHT cars assembled in Brampton was of TREMENDOUS VALUE. The geniuses at DCX should have PAID HIM for filling a gap (more like a vacuum) that DCX Created!
How many customers did he help? Hundreds, perhaps thousands? And in return they fire him?
How strongly do I feel about it?
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER DCX VEHICLE AS LONG AS I LIVE IF THOSE GENIUSES DON'T REINSTATE HIM! NEVER!
I am cancelling my order for my Jeep GC SRT-8 TODAY!
As much as I love my 300C SRT-8, I am personally boycotting DCX and will tell every car guy I know how they rewarded Speckler for helping DCX's Customers!
I have a hard time believing that his Union doesn't have the clout to prevent his termination. Hopefully they can help him become reinstated. Once upon a time I was a Teamster. You can bet your ass they would have convinced DCX that firing him would be bad for business ($$$$$)
If I worked at the Brampton Assembly Plant, I'd make sure that my Performence, Conduct, Attendance etc.. would reflect my dissatisfaction with this ingenious decision.
The most likely actual reason for his termination is that some small minded, jealous 'cause he didn't think of it first, middle management peckerhead felt threatened by Ralph having success with his project.
Oh , BTW, Ralph answered questions of mine ON HIS OWN TIME, and I didn't even suscribe to his service! (unfortunately I didn't learn of his site until After my car had shipped!)
Sincerely,
Former DCX Loyal Customer
