Exclamation Please respond!

I am brand new to computing and as such I am 'finding my way' around this amazing website since joining last month.

However, I have noticed that on occasions when a question is asked of some contributors on the various forums, responses are not returned often leaving the subject matter unresolved. I have even sent PMs in an attempt to obtain the relevant info without responses.

Just thought I'd mention it in passing to those it may concern. Other than that this website is 100% A1 OK!

On some message boards, that tends to mean that nobody knows the answer. Alternatively, sometimes it means that the info. is posted elsewhere and is deemed to be easy to find (say, by using the Search function). But on this board, my impression is that many people step up and answer even repetitive questions if they are able.

A good subject line always helps get more readers. Also make sure you post a thread under the right catagory.

This is my impression as well arti!

Often it can depend on the day & time that the question is posted as well... if the board is very active, threads get pushed down the list rapidly. At that point the author of the thread can simply make a new post in his/her thread to "bump" it back to the top of the list for more views and another chance for answers.

<edit: anyone can "bump" the thread, not jut the author>

Hi Geordie

In my experience from another website, I have always found that putting a key word (such as SEX) into the thread title gets you a much better response.

Hey there MTC and other members...

I may have been slightly misunderstood on this one?

If I can give the following two recent examples to clarify:-

1) In one thread the contributor stated that they had removed two Chrysler emblems from the rear of the car. Two members (incluiding me) responded by asking how they removed the items but no reply was ever given!

2) In another thread the contributor was critical of the T-Rex mesh triple chrome 'Bentley Style' grille stating that the chrome had peeled. Two members (including me re my vested interest in purchasing that grille) asked how long the grille had been fitted etc but no response was given. My PM to the contributor was also never responded to.

I merely reiterate that when members provide opinions etc it would be helpful if they were vigilant in anticipating obvious responses which ultimately will require a clarifying reply.

Regards

Geordie

PS..
I am of a certain age when the use of 'SEX' to get my point over (if you pardon the pun) would be a tad inappropriate!

Hey Herb, already one step ahead of you. I just sent Geordie a PM with the answer to his #1 example. I don't know enough about the T-rex grilles to answer #2. Someone want to help out with example #2 Geordie posted in this thread?

Hey Geordie, you have a PM from me. Hope this helps out.

I concur with Herb, some are only on here for themsleves, get an answer they want and poof, they are gone in oblivion. There are others of us here that will share in what we know, plus learn more from others. Ideally that is how it is to work on a forum, but we don't live in an ideal world. Hit me up Geordie, if you need anything else.

Hi Geordie

ref the emblem removal, Belmont CJ gave me the answer and I'll pass it on to you later on.

I understand that you are of a "certain age" and tha you would prefer not to use the word "SEX" to get a better reponse to your posts - may I suggest a mixture of, or indeed all of "MOIST, MUSKY, DAMP, JUICY" and see how you get on ? (Only joking).
