i kinda lucked out with my car. i purchased a preowned C and was told that all warraties were to be transfered according to my sales person. for those of you who dont know if you truly wanted the warranty transferred as a second owner it is $150.00. when i got my car the saleperson also did not report to chrysler that i was the new owner. fast foward 4 months later i went in for an oil change and the service guy tells me that in chrysler's computer i am not the owner listed. so he changed the info and about 2 weeks later i recevied a letter stating if i wanted to transfer the warranty it would be $150 but it most be done within 30 days from the date of purchase, obviously i was way past that point. so after many phone calls to the dealership and getting the run around i demanded to speak to the owner to discuss this mistake buy his sales people. needless to say i received a call from the head of customer service the next day asking me to come in and sign the paperwork for my warranty. since it was there screw up i got the 7/70,000 warranty with the 0 deductable at no charge to me. persistance pays off lol sorry if i hijacked this post

Well, urbanchemist lucked out because the previous owner had already purchased the extended warranty. If someone were to purchase a used 2005 today that does not have an extended warranty on it, I don't see why they could not get the same deal you did, doodie300c.

doodie300c:

Is your extended warranty the "Maximum Care" or the "Added Care Plus" plan?

actually the first owner didnt have any extended warranty. it was an '05 with the 7/70,000. 2nd owners have to pay $150 to have the warranty transfered within 30 days of purchase. it was just due to the lack of anyone with a working brain at the dealership i went to that i got the warranty. once again sorry for hijacking the thread

Yeah now I'm wondering if doodie300c didn't buy the same coverage he already had. He has a 2005 so he has 7/70 on powertrain anyway. For $1080 he bought 7/70 on everything, but the powertrain was covered already, so all he gained was coverage on non-powertrain.

If this is true, it's possible the dealer finance / insurance guy took it into account in offering the policy on that car for that price.
